Re: Opinion on gunsmith situation
I've milled out a lot of slides for sights. I've messed some of them up. one time I got rushed and missed a digit on the CNC Z axis and punched through. My very next step was to go order a new slide and eat it. it was my mistake, not the customer's. there's no excuse for handing what you got to a cu...

Re: Bertram (NW of Austin) Instructor Qual
Haven't gotten any no-gos on 9/21 so let's plan to meet at the range at 10am on 9/21. Looks like there will be 4-6 depending so should go pretty quick. This is a private range, the gate will be open. It shows up correctly enough on both google and bing maps, look up 235 CR 268 in Bertram. In arial v...

Re: Any FFL members in Austin?
I'm 4 miles west of I35 on SH29. I have specific location and information on my website, which posting here hopefully doesn't violate forum rules as advertising but since folks asked it's serenityarms.com. The majority of things I do include fitting/threading/engraving, functional repairs on handgun...

Re: Home Based FFL Question
ATF will most certainly know if you are or are not doing solely online sales and no transfers at your location. If you do local transfers for people at your location then you'll have paper 4473 forms that you're required to keep and your log book will show dispositions to those local transactions. I...

Re: Magpul MBUS sights beware
Where did you get them? There was a run of Chinese fakes of these exact sights a while ago and they were VERY well faked, you couldn't tell them apart packaging and all. They all had a very common problem, those pins would work out of the body. The springs in the sights were ever so slightly lighter...

Re: How "Prepped" Are you?
AndyC's list is a really good one and very easy to implement. I'd only add for #1 get some reusable filtration like a berkey filter. if you have to burn through your stored supply or run out of purification you just need a source of just about any kind of water and you're set. stores forever too. #6...

Re: Receiving a gun after repair
Taurus replaced my gun with a new gun, shipped to FFL which required a FFL fee and Taurus reimbursed me. Because it was a new gun with a new serial number had to do all the paperwork . Ruger repaired a rifle and shipped the repaired same rifle directly to my home. still not true, no matter how many...

Re: Receiving a gun after repair
IF they replace your gun instead of repair, will need an FFL. Not true. A gunsmith or manufacturer can return a replacement firearm with a different serial number to you without a 4473 and NICS check. Anything you send back to the factory can come directly back to you no matter what comes back. If ...
