Re: Sign to Support Property Tax Reform - Lt. Gov. Patrick

The fantasy that our taxes will somehow decrease is just that, a fantasy. The states, counties, and all the rest of the taxing entities will still get their quartof blood even if property taxes are decreased. Once they get their teeth in your leg they don't let go. My feeling as well. I suspect thi...

Re: Stovepiping on Colt Gov't 380

I assume these are top quality mags? If so, it's not recoiling with enough energy to feed the next round. 380s barely, barely have enough oomph to operate the slide. So something is bleeding off some of that oomph - the recoil spring needs something solid to "push against" when the gun fir...

Re: Sign to Support Property Tax Reform - Lt. Gov. Patrick

Just what "property tax relief" is being proposed? Counties use property taxes like an ATM. It's nuts. I put up a little carport to park my tractor under: pow, here comes the county making me pay annual property taxes on it. We also pay "double taxes." We live in one county and p...

Re: When will the dust settle?

Did the knife bill that got rid of the 5.5" rule pass? That was HB 1935. From the web site above: " This legislation repeals the prohibition on the possession or carrying of knives such as daggers, dirks, stilettos and Bowies, by eliminating them from the prohibited weapons section of the...

Re: Size VS Capacity

It's really hard to compare calibers any more, with specialty companies making all kinds of ammunition. The standard, plain vanilla .45 ammo, for example, has about 350 ft. lbs. of energy with a muzzle velocity of about 830 fps. Buffalo Bore's 9mm +P+ has 500 ft. lbs. at 1400 fps., which approaches ...

Can 560 be resurrected?

Is there any... any path in which 560 could be resurrected, should a special session be called?

Re: Did we get shut out this year

Take a look at all the bad gun bills filed that attack our 2nd amendment rights. Good and bad bills listed here by Charles. https://www.texasfirearmscoalition.com/index.php/bill-status-report/2017-legislative-session Excellent document. Found a typo in HB 913. Should be "NFA paperwork," n...

Re: HB 3784

Plus......... the cost of the hour of personal instruction, range fees, ammo, etc. would pretty much cancel out the cost savings from the new reduction in the LTC fee. Sigh.....

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

They didn't vote on the floor. That's true. But Beruity proposed asking each candidate at election time if they would co-author or sponsor a bill similar to HB 560. I think that is unnecessary and possibly misleading. What politicians say to get our votes doesn't always match what they do in office...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

Does anybody know the approximate total administrative cost of producing a LTC? You have the registration, the cost of staff to do the background checks, telephone customer service, and of course the fingerprinting/photo work, which is typically contracted out.

Re: RIP - Fines for Signs

Why does the Attorney General have to be involved in the first place? All this writing letters to the AG, waiting months and months for a reply, etc. is ridiculous. Seems like you should be able to simply report the offense to the appropriate law enforcement agency, and a fine is issued, period.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

When is it ever wrong to fight for the Constitution? This is an elegant statement, but one does not generate change and progress with such global, lofty sloganeering, no matter how "right" it is. You have to deal with reality and the real world, and how it works, not how you think it shou...
