Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

They didn't vote on the floor. That's true. But Beruity proposed asking each candidate at election time if they would co-author or sponsor a bill similar to HB 560. I think that is unnecessary and possibly misleading. What politicians say to get our votes doesn't always match what they do in office...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

Does anybody know the approximate total administrative cost of producing a LTC? You have the registration, the cost of staff to do the background checks, telephone customer service, and of course the fingerprinting/photo work, which is typically contracted out.

Re: RIP - Fines for Signs

Why does the Attorney General have to be involved in the first place? All this writing letters to the AG, waiting months and months for a reply, etc. is ridiculous. Seems like you should be able to simply report the offense to the appropriate law enforcement agency, and a fine is issued, period.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

When is it ever wrong to fight for the Constitution? This is an elegant statement, but one does not generate change and progress with such global, lofty sloganeering, no matter how "right" it is. You have to deal with reality and the real world, and how it works, not how you think it shou...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

This is for folks who think there is a better, more efficient and successful, way to get pro-gun legislation passed. How would you do it? Don't give me generalities like "don't compromise," or "demand that all Republicans . . .," tell me precisely what steps will be successful a...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

https://empowertexans.com/features/calendars-confusion/ Found this doing some looking on the web. Helped to shed some light on the subject for those who are interested. Very interesting article about the Calendars Committee. "....a composition of Democrats and liberal Republicans."

Re: HB 3784

There's lots of jaw-wagging about taking courses online, but what about the other half of this thing? It requires at least ONE HOUR of range instruction BEFORE taking the proficiency test. I wonder what that's supposed to include. I can't say it's a bad idea - LTC instructors have told many stories ...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

Any member can "tag" a bill meaning it won't be put to a vote. It's a control mechanism that should not exist.Calendars should have to meet publicly including standard video. It is designed to be a private black hole and it is. That said, it often works in our favor. How dismaying.... tha...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

We know exactly who killed HB1911 - Phil King and Todd Hunter. King held it up from being voted out of committee, and Hunter never scheduled it for a vote on the house floor. So..... are we saying King and Hunter are anti-gun, and killed it deliberately for this reason? Just trying to cut down to t...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

Looks like it's fried. Even if it got to the House floor, it would still need to go to the Senate committee, then go to the Senate floor, etc. and that's WITHOUT any amendments at all. Not going to happen. I suspect that everybody knew 375/1911 had zero chance of passing, so pretending to support it...

Any idea how many rounds went through it before that point?
