Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

TPC §46.035(i) was created in 1997 as part of HB2909. We had to do it that way to achieve the goal. People constantly ask why we didn't just repeal the prohibition on churches, hospitals, etc. The simple answer is we didn't have the votes. The prohibition on carrying in churches, hospitals, etc. wa...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

Oh, boy. Turns out criminal history reporting in the military is virtually non-existent. A quote from the article below: "Failure to report the outcome of criminal cases was 79 percent in the Army and 50 percent in the Air Force, the report said. In the Navy, it was 94 percent." This is fr...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

This gem, from the CNN article above: "In some states, a background check can be run fairly quickly through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). However, Texas is not one of these states, so firearms dealers are required to contact the FBI directly for all firearm backg...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

They're here. Mark Kelly, Gabrielle Gifford's husband, on CNN with Anderson Cooper: "In Texas, you can buy a gun without a background check." And then, "In Texas, Arizona and some other states, you can get out of prison, walk straight to the nearest gun show and buy an arsenal of weap...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 27 dead 30 injured in mass shooting

Wow.... I wonder if the families of the victims will have a nice lawsuit case against the USAF for not reporting.

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 27 dead 30 injured in mass shooting

Is anybody talking about how he was able to purchase the guns? The Sheriff's office said nothing came up on his background check, yet he was supposed to be disqualified, due to the Dishonorable Discharge and spending a year in jail for assaulting his wife and child. Was this a glitch in the NICS sys...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 27 dead 30 injured in mass shooting

Another thing that's notable is that the news media isn't making a PEEP about the real hero here: the guy - the "local armed resident" who engaged in a gunfight with the shooter outside the church and stopped him, apparently killing him. Not a peep. No name, nothing. Of course, there are l...

Re: Poll - How many rounds?

My Walther P99 AS 9mm has a 15 round mag capacity, but when I'm CCing I just load it with 9+1. It makes a BIG difference in the perceived weight and comfort of the gun. And it's hard to imagine a situation 10 rounds of 124 gr. +P Gold Dot wouldn't get me out of, anyway.

Sjambok http://imgur.com/cKVH3Xj Not to hijack, but do you know if the synthetic ones on ebay are worth it? No, not to hijack, but actually the sjambok originated in Africa. Ask any old time professional hunter. They were made from a rhinocerous penis that had been stretched out and dried (after ki...

Re: Guidance regarding dog attacks

I've often wondered about this as well. I appreciate the cites above, but your additions in red are your own interpretations and embellishments, and don't carry the weight of law. The next cite shows weirdness in the code: it only applies to dogs attacking animals or livestock. People aren't mention...

Re: Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Active Shooter

For me, the most significant aspect of this whole incident is his motivation, especially considering the time he invested in it. He went to a LOT of trouble to plan and set this up, over a long period of time. That tends to rule out "trigger" events. ISIS involvement seems unlikely; if he'...

Re: Shooting looters

In Texas, if you loot i.e.burglarize you are subject to the use of deadly force against you. I don't think so, if it's somebody else's property and it's daylight. So if it's an emergency and you see a couple of punks throwing a brick through a window and grabbing stuff, you can raise your AR and le...
