Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

In the Houston area at least once a year a 1 day cram course is offered for the Tech. The point is to get your license then learn all the technical stuff. I did mine 10 years ago so I could use a HAM radio on my motorcycle for the MS150. There was a HAM club there trying to learn hold to run the cla...

Re: Loaded chamber in posted 30.07 locations legal?

Your title starts with 30.07 = No Open carry. So no problem carrying load. 30.06 = No Concealed Carry. There are various discussion on whether to have one in the chamber or not. I believe it was best said by crazy2medic "Unloaded gun= very expensive paperweight!" Just wondering if cc loade...

Re: A True Accidental Shooting

If you have a firearm on you, you should have a tourniquet on you. Period. Does anyone (everyone) do this? Should we? I always have a basic first aid kit in all of my vehicles, but I don't think any have a tourniquet. Keep one with bandages in my range bag and made sure my adult son has the same ki...

He's not gun friendly. A quote of his “And that’s why it’s important for us as Americans to know our neighbors, know our families — tell somebody,” he said. “If you know somebody that is acting with a lot of hatred towards any particular group — especially if it’s somebody you know is a gun enthusia...

Re: Ferguson now comes to police chases

Sadly stats can get spun in any direction. Pick any product or action and you can find one group using or doing more than others. It's bad that the media spins it into race all the time.

"it appears that the customer was defending himself." What type of statement is this? Makes it sound like the shooting is questionable. "Surveillance video helped police confirm that the customer's statement was consistent with what happened."

Re: Houston Zoo

"The zoo, Wallace added, “maintains an Education Department that employs 17 professional educators who develop and deliver educational programming on a daily basis at the Zoo.” "

So does that make gun stores and ranges educational institutes since they teach gun safety?

Re: Do you carry spare magazines?

Yes, I carry 2 extra. Why? When I took a training course I ran out of ammo, dropped the magazine and reloaded and continued the drill. After the drill I looked down and saw the magazine I dropped was half full. Loaded back full and continued with the training, again it happen. Empty the remaining bu...

Re: WWYD- Apologizing to a Neighbor

It's always good to talk with your neighbor. Walk over and mention the issue. Explain what happen and if it seems they need an apology offer one. I talk with my neighbor to keep good relations.

So I know TX CHL is good for LA but does anyone clearly know their laws

I travel to Baton Rouge a lot to watch football and know TX CHL is valid but have not been able to find clear information on their laws. Recently there was a clarification on restaurant concealed carry but I haven't been able to find it and when it is valid,

Review of VATA Group Training (Pistol)

I just finished 2 days training with the VATA Group out of Slidell, LA. The 2, one day courses were Intro to Tactical Pistol and Tactical Pistol 1. Day 1 started out in the class room for a hour covering safety and gear setup then it was off to the range. Again a safety brief before heading down ran...
