Re: Houston south quadrant breakfast
South Quadrant Breakfast team... It looks like we're finally going to be able to pull off a West Quadrant version of our monthly meet-up. I know it's a bit of a haul for some of you, but it would be good if some of y'all could join us on the west side for our inaugural breakfast. We'll be at Rudy's...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?
If unlicensed carry passes this session & HB560 languishes. Don't count on any 560-like bill passing in the near future. The whole argument for 560 is that licensed carriers have earned the reduction of off limits places.

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?
Very frustrating that no other members have the guts to stand up for something that's the right thing to do. HB 560 needs to start showing signs of life. The House needs to wake up before the bill can get moving. As best as I can tell, the House hasn't done anything except re-elect the Speaker in t...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?
It looks like no committee assignments have been made. Specifically no one has been assigned to the public safety committee (through which all gun bills must pass). You mean the committee ITSELF doesn't have any members yet? How serious is that at this point? Who is the key backer of this bill in t...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?
Well so far, nothing is happening with this great bill. No one has signed on as a co-author or as a sponsor and it hasn't even been assigned to committee yet. I'm guessing that the legislature is taking a break from gun bills this session. Have the committee's chairs been assigned in the house? Saw...

Re: LTC individual has ND at Houston Galleria
How many makes of modern firearms will discharge from an impact without the trigger being pulled? It's possible that the trigger may have been inadvertently pulled by something else in the backpack when it fell. From the Ch2 article: Police said the man did have a permit to carry, but his weapon wa...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?
So that things don't get lost in the shuffle, I decided to wait until the new legislature convenes before sending out my emails requesting support for HB560. I fired off emails this morning to my legislators: Rep Mary Ann Perez (probably wishful thinking that she'll support the bill in any form) &am...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
Good morning everyone, I just sent this off to the George Library in Richmond last night. We will see how this goes... [Shortened to reduce post length] I may be wrong, but I believe that the Fort Bend library system is claiming that they are in fact a school system and not a collection of librarie...

Re: Gulf Greyhound Park - Magical Winter Lights
Isn't a "racetrack" off limits per PC 46.03 even if no gambling taking place? I'm not sure how relevant it is to the question at hand, but the facility no longer even operates as a racetrack and hasn't in some time. However they do show simulcasts of racing from around the country and it ...

Re: Break in period garbage
Break-in periods used to be standard procedure for firearms. So a lot of the internet lore still dredges that up as a remnant of the past. But guns are mechanical devices that are (for the most part) mass-produced. Any mass-produced mechanical device can fail right out of the box - it's just a bad l...
