Re: FL: Active shooter at high school in South Florida

The Sheriff just stated that the school had one armed security guard for a 45 acre, 3000 student campus. That is totally inadequate. The hero coach was also acting as an armed security guard. He ran to the sound of gunfire. If he had been armed and trained, he probably would have been more effective...

Re: Let's Really Protect Our Schools

Great idea Charles. We need to require schools to harden themselves including locking all doors, limiting entrance during school hours, installing video surveillance on all entrances and ensuring sufficient armed security, either paid or volunteer in all schools. In Parkland, the shooter entered thr...

Re: FL: Active shooter at high school in South Florida

We really need to harden schools. Doors need to be locked to the outside, security guards need to be armed and staff who are willing to be trained and carry concealed must be allowed to do so. This is the only way to stop or limit school shootings. We have known this since at least Sandy Hook. The f...

Re: Remington Bankruptcy

I read that Cerberus saddled Remington with a ton of debt when they bought them. That isn't unusual in takeovers although it is usually the selling company that saddles the buying company with the debt. In any case, it makes it very difficult for the company saddled with the debt to survive.

Re: The keeper.

I don't sell very many of my guns either. The two I probably will never sell, I inherited from my Dad when he died when I was twelve. They are a Browning 16 gauge semi-automatic shotgun and a Remington .22 pump. I learned how to shoot with those guns and have toted them all across the country in mov...

Re: Not watching the Superbowl

I decided to boycott the NFL this year. Really doesn't mean much though since I haven't watched more that a couple of quarters of NFL per year, other than Thanksgivng, for 20 years. I did not not watch on Thanksgiving this year though!

Re: TX: Houston kidnapping victim accidentally killed by FBI during raid

Breaks one of the fundamental safety rules - Know your target and what's behind it.

Probably broke another too - keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

That of course assumes that this explanation has any relationship to the truth.

Re: Talos Ballistics bulletproof clothing

They have some other interesting products too like a bullet resistant portfolio. I could see carrying something like that although how are you going to know when to raise it and where to cover yourself with it. Still interesting though

Felony murder - all of the kidnappers can now be charged with murder.

Re: Ever Used Glow-On Paint To Brighten Iron Sights?

On a couple of my gun the tritium doesn't work anymore. So I have painted the old tritium circle red and the rest of the post white. I have tried other colors but that what just seems to make it real easy to pick up the front sight.

Re: Minnesota LTCer Shoots Motorist After Car Accident

A punch doesn't need to be thrown to justify acting in self defense.

However from the pictures, I don't see a disparity of force argument working. And simply daring someone to shoot doesn't justify shooting.

It will be interesting to see how this works out.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

I voted for Trump albeit with great misgivings. I am however still very happy with that vote. Hilary still isn't president and we have gotten some very good Federal judges.

But there are times, Trump talks and tweets too much. He is continually stepping on his own good news. Drives me crazy.

Re: Hawaii: False alarm on missile strike was Trumps's fault

This is typical Hawaii. I used to have to work with Hawaiians regularly. They were generally good to work with, but anytime they screwed up, they immediately managed to blame the mainland for it. I had a job opportunity out there once but turned it down in part because of that attitude.

I have flown in and out of Ontario a fair amount. I liked it better than any other LA airport. That said, it has been years since I have been to California.

Re: MI:Former Marine charged with assault with attempt to murder after defending his family

None of this makes sense. Having said that 35 years ago when I was in law school I clerked for a local firm part time for a year. We had a case of excessive force by one of the local PDs. While our client may have deserved some rough treatment, (he talked back, to put it mildly, to the arresting off...
