Re: Big Police shooting in Dallas Tx

The word on my police forums is that the male officer is only being kept alive by machines to give his mother time to get there to say goodbye. Female officer is in serious condition and could go either way still. I am also being told that the Home Depot employee was an off-duty Dallas officer worki...

Re: "Waiting Room"

Lucky. My background is still under review approaching 4 weeks now. Ex cop, clean background... But for some reason background checks seem to take forever with me. I waited 8 months for lyft to review my background before I gave up trying to drive for them in my spare time. That is unusual. I had g...

Re: Calaveras and Braunig Lakes

I am curious if the posting at the lakes is enforceable at all. We all know that property owned by a governmental entity is not enforceable. When it was just City Public Service, it was wholly owned by the city of San Antonio. I would have argued that this made it a part of a governmental entity. Wi...

Re: Austin based Yeti quits doing business with NRA

I think this is a particularly egregious case of anti-gun bias. As a result I will never buy ANY yeti products and will spread the word asking others not to also. I did not like when the car rental companies separated from the NRA. That was stupid but was an agreement that gave a discount to NRA mem...

Re: "Waiting Room"

Class was 3/25. I did the online application on 4/3 and was fingerprinted on 4/5. When I checked the status on 4/5, I had the "submitted" that I expected. On 4/9 I got no status at all, just the message that if you completed the process the status would be unavailable. This continued unti...

Re: Reciprocity with WA?

I think the question of the MPA covering you or the LTC covering you is actually easy to understand if you look at the way the law is written. Section 46.02 said it is illegal to carry a gun. The MPA modified this so that the the law now says it is illegal to carry a gun unless it is in your car and...

Re: Dick's Sporting Goods to destroy all unsold firearms after Parkland shooting

https://www.google.com/search?q=Dick%27s+Sporting+Goods+stock Thanks for that link. I had stopped using Dick's for anything when they announced that they would not sell ARs before. Then I happened to be in Houston to see my daughter and they had the new Field & Stream store. I wanted to see it ...

senior member with over 1k posts but just now getting an LTC? :confused5 :confused5 Some of us are a little slow. I joined the group while I was a police officer, and carried since then on my retired peace officer credentials. Recently we were talking about it at work and several people tried to ge...

Re: Question about carrying at Doctor's Office

Why do so many hospitals choose to post the 30.06 signs? Genuinely curious. I think it has to do with the mentality of most administrators in the medical system. They tend to see weapons as a bad thing and a means to harm people only. They see this as against the concept of "first, do no harm....

If not, we could help it along by using some dynamite along the San Andreas fault and blow it into the ocean.

Is LP/AP legally able to detain somebody? If so, under what authority? Any citizen has the authority to detain someone under Article 18.16 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Art. 18.16. Re: new License to Carry a Handgun (LTC)

I was going to post this in the waiting room, but the thread made me check and I got a weird result. A friend of mine and I took the class on Mar 25. He applied on the 26th on-line and was fingerprinted on the 27th. He never checked the status and then came into work on April 5th and showed me that ...

Re: Best Buy store oopsie

Just tell them to call the police and let them make a fool of themselves. Having thought about this in the past, especially since Walmart started asking for receipts to let you leave the store, this is my recommended option. If I am ever stopped, I am going to ask them to call the police and I am n...

Re: Employers that allow their employees to carry

TxDOT allows CC. Texas agencies cannot prohibit carrying unless there are special circumstances. Before my wife retired from the Teacher Retirement System, I carried openly whenever I visited her there. Just for technical accuracy, state agencies cannot prohibit visitors from carrying, but they sti...
