Re: Colorado taking first steps towards complete confiscation

It's not confiscation of one's guns "just because they might possibly commit a crime". It is temporarily removing the guns from a person's possession based upon a preponderance of evidence that the person is mentally ill to the point of harming themself or others. Reading the proposed legislation, ...

While not as explicit in showing the results, here is a more recent survey:

Re: Any Recourse Against Sneaky Tax Raise?

There are a lot of ways to protest your taxes. The protest of the appraisal is the first step. You should have gotten a form on how to protest with your appraisal notice. If you look at the state Comptroller's web site, they have a property tax assistance division which helps with the oversight of t...

Re: Is the Galveston Opera House Posted?

Noted. I didn't mean to infer it was government owned. The exemption code was simply EX no description extension. I cant't find it now but I ran across a site that indicated their income was $854,000+. I did not think you were implying this, but I wanted to make sure no one thought so and carried b...

Re: Is the Galveston Opera House Posted?

Interestingly the property is exempt from property tax on GCAD. It is tax exempt because the owner, 1894, Inc., is a non-profit charity organization. I find nothing to indicate that it is a government owned corporation, which might make the property unpostable ( I have some questions about private ...

Re: HB435 Volunteer Emergency Svces Carrying

The City can give their permission for the full-time FF's to carry. The VFD has a "defense to prosecution" for being "Volunteer Emergency Services" providers. This is my OPINION. I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. Inside the fire station, on trucks, or while fighting fires on property tha...

Re: Which organization do you think is best.

I'm obviously biased, but I will note that the NRA is the only organization the left is trying to destroy. There is a reason for this. Chas. I agree with everyone who is mentioning the TSRA and the NRA, but Charles has a very good point here. I tend to send my spare cash to TSRA first because more ...

Funny thing, but when I saw the news article about North this morning, I thought of that and commented to a friend of mine that at least he had proof he believed in arms for everyone.

All in your point of view of course.

Re: Daniel Defense - Friend or Foe

There are two separate discussions that I wanted to address in this thread. The first is the question of how to deal with 18-20 year-old adults and the current threat to their rights. I do not believe that any organization or group of people in any hobby can afford to turn away young people who are ...

Re: Student walkout for 2A rights

I would much rather see them have a lawful demonstration outside of school hours. I agree. I would love to help arrange for a student demonstration by the Capitol on a Saturday to show support for the 2A. I just don't have the skill or contacts (which is how I know that none of the students did it....

You mean expanding this Texas law (the part in red): Sec. 411.207. AUTHORITY OF PEACE OFFICER TO DISARM. (a) A peace officer who is acting in the lawful discharge of the officer's official duties may disarm a license holder at any time the officer reasonably believes it is necessary for the protecti...

Re: University Installs ‘Cry Closet’

As an interesting side note to this, I read a statement from the university that made a little more sense of this. They said it was a student art project designed to make a statement and start a discussion. It had some pictures from the back and sides, which were not finished on the outside like the...

Re: The "I am a marine not a soldier"

I might have a different viewpoint from most since I served in the Marine Reserves before I went active duty in the Army. To service members, there is a difference between Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen. My father was a Korean War Marine and made sure I never forgot that there was a differen...

rotor, While I'm in the autumn of my years, read geezer, I can tell if it's a restaurant that sells more food than booze or a bar. Honestly, this is a problem for you? While I can usually tell a bar from a restaurant, I have no faith in TABC being able to do the same. And the problem is that the la...

Re: Cop Killer Still on Death Row 36 years later EOW 4-28-82

When a person is convicted in a officer's death, usually the evidence is overwhelming. I have never herd of an innocent person going to jail in a cop killing. I agree with the second half of your statement though. while I personally have no doubt as to his guilt, many people believe Mumia Abu-Jamal...
