Re: Why do we need 30.06/7?

Are we not a protected class by virtue of the 2nd Amendment? I cannot resist pointing out that we are, from one point of view, the best protected class. Unfortunately, humor aside, we are not a protected class under the law. It is not the constitution that makes the protected classes, and there is ...

Re: Why do we need 30.06/7?

As I understand it, if a business is open to the public, they have to accommodate ALL the public. So why are businesses allowed to discriminate against a group of people who have almost no history of being a danger to the public? Because this is not an accurate statement. Under federal and Texas la...

Re: Commitment to force as a LTC vs. LEO

I have seen a lot of people who preach to shoot to stop the threat. There is a lot to be said for this, especially in the LEO world. And it is something you might need to consider as a citizen in a self-defense situation. But here is another point to consider. What is your purpose in this situation?...

Re: Why Country Stars Need to Sound Off on Gun Control at the CMA Awards

Thanks for posting that article. I am also glad it contained a list of some stars who have come out in favor of gun control. Now I know which performers to not listen to or buy records from. Of course, the problem he missed is that country music fans, as a general rule, want their entertainers to en...

Re: Poll - How many rounds?

The result that I find most interesting is that almost everyone carries one reload with them most of the time. There were a few exceptions that carry two and a few with no reloads, but the majority is overwhelmingly whatever the weapon capacity is plus one spare magazine. This seems reasonable to me...

I don't know since that would be between him and you. You might get away with only the $2500 being gone and keep the 2000. He might demand all of it.

Re: Help! Places Weapons Prohibited

You have already taken the most important step I could recommend. I always recommend hiring a lawyer when dealing with law enforcement as a suspect in any way. This means the only help I can offer is to talk with your attorney and find out what he is doing. If he will not talk to you, leave a messag...

Re: Straus not running for a new term.

Just as a point to consider, who cares about conservative principles? Nothing in the TSRA or NRA ratings should consider conservative principles. Both are single issue organizations who should only reflect his performance on that one issue. I am not a conservative. I am a libertarian. I support the ...

Re: Straus not running for a new term.

Anyone who gets so many "I'm a Democrat and I like you" comments as he was getting isn't much of a Republican that's for sure. I read this in the news today. The Austin Statesman ran a column on what people are saying about this. I told a friend that it was very telling that the comments ...

Re: KHOU - 17 states call on Congress to abandon concealed carry gun law

Hmm, 17 AGs oppose the law. That means 33 AGs are not opposed to it, a 2 to 1 margin. I guess it is time for the bill to pass if that is the measure.

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

As an interesting side note on truck guns, I was looking at a new Ford F250 yesterday. When the salesman showed me the underseat storage area, he described it as the perfect place to store your truck gun so it doesn't rattle around loosely. I did not mention guns first, either. I thought it was humo...

Re: Domestic Violence deffered adjudication and CHL

I live in Texas and I had a battery domestic violence charge when I visisted Las Vegas back in 2013. I already had a CHL for the stare of Texas and a few guns but left everything at home. I got arrested and stayed in jail for 4 days because it was Labor day weekend. I didn't go to court they just l...

Re: Thoughts on [Pre-paid legal service]

I don't know if I would recommend a pre-paid legal service or not. I have had some experience with a pre-paid legal plan as a benefit of work. It was very useful for those one-off visits such as a will or a real estate purchase. For lawsuits they would only review your case and recommend an independ...

Re: New TX Resident with other state RESIDENT license

I believe that a part of the problem is a flaw in your logic. You stated that a Texas resident has to have a Texas LTC and this is not an accurate statement. Unlike with driver's license, there is no law requiring a Texas resident to have a Texas license if he has one. Many Texas residents get their...

Re: Hearing Protection Act of 2017

:banghead: :banghead: Because every knowledgeable person in the world knows the results would have been no different if the shooter had been using suppressors. When I had this discussion with a co-worker, he insisted it would have made a difference. I pointed out that no one realized it was gunshot...
