If their insurance company "requires" them to post a 30.06 sign, then they need a new insurance company. As it is, they will need a new set of customers.

Senate to ban CHL in gallery

The Senate administration committee has voted to "ban" weapons from the gallery in the Capitol building. Ever since the CHL law went into effect, the Capitol has been open to concealed carry. I have given the CHL class to several legislators in their offices. The policy is being written at...

How about taking the name and address of this place and sending it to: complaints@tabc.state.tx.us. They can then go out and determine that a 51% sign is called for. The "saloon" would have to do a hell of a business, since it is ONE license. Or it may be poor communications/training of so...

51%

I believe anyplace that sells beer, wine or hard liquor has to post the "unlicensed possesion of a weapon...". And anytime you see a place that may have to have a "51%" sign and doesn't or that has a "51%" and should not, you can use this handy website to give TABC the ...

51% posting

So, unless Shaver had reviewed the books, he could not "know" if the place was a "bar" or not. IF less than 51% of the income, AS DETERMINED BY TABC, was for "on-premise" consumption, then the place is not a "bar", even if it has "saloon" in it's nam...

Shaver

Yes and we all know how well informed and knowledgeable reporters are. In various articles today, I "saw" where he was charged with "carrying a firearm in a prohibited place", "carrying a firearm in a place where alcohol is sold" and "unauthorized weapon possession...

Shaver shooting

Has anyone determined that the place in question is a BAR? Was it posted with a 51% sign? Does the place sell anything other than booze?

Are you sure it wasn't a cell phone? Or pager? Or camera? Or some other electronic gizmo? When I wear jeans and a holster with a T shirt over it, there is a big bump. So what? Some people are just overly nervous about "printing", which is not a violation.

Barack Obama will be in Austin on Friday for a speech. His campaign has procured Auditorium Shores for the speech. This is a PUBLIC park. I presume it will be fenced off. When I was instructing in Austin, I'd always recommend that my students take their application/renewal packet directly to the DPS intake office. They would take the fingerprints on the electronic equipment and never get a "bad" set. The office is now across from Highland Mall. Plenty of pa...

SB 112 rhw Texas "castle doctrine" bill will be voted on in the Senate next week. It has 27 of 31 Senators as sponsors. There are more than 100 sponsors in the House (of 150 members). I think it has a fair chance of passing.
