Free LTC Class for Veterans

Absolutely free class for any Veterans or Active Duty in Humble/New Caney (NE Houston) class this Saturday (Veteran's Day). Most people here have their licenses, but please spread to any of your Veteran friends. I have 3 openings left that I want to fill. Thanks.

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

Built a 10.5" AR pistol as cheap as I could. Sits in a tennis racket case under the back seat in case my Glock isn't enough. Shoots all the same ammo my duty rifle does. Heck, these days, you could build an AR pistol in 9mm pretty cheap too (back then those were expensive) and have it shoot glo...

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

I just figured I'd let everybody know what I decided to go for (in case anybody cares! :) ). I really appreciated everybody's ideas and feedback. I was really much interested in mainly .300 BLK in a short rifle, preferably suppressed, since obviously I won't be able to grab for hearing protection i...

Re: Carry by Bar Employee

Giving a class the other day, and someone said they worked in a bar and asked if they could carry there once they got their license. Now in 46.15: (b) Section 46.02 (carry is prohibited in all places other than your premises, or car/boat under your control) does not apply to a person who: (7) holds...

Re: Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means

Not a clarifying point regarding the law but seems relevant... My LTC instructor made the point that even with the law on your side you could easily be looking at $10-15K (or more) in legal fees if you shoot someone (maybe not, but not an unlikely possibility). And so if you assume that cost, it’s ...

Re: Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means

One of the videos I watched about this also expressed a concept I wouldn't have thought about - it suggested 'cannot be recovered by any other means' could apply to the fact that you couldn't physically stop them stealing it without using force - ie you were wearing flip flops or high hills and wou...

Re: Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means

IANAL, but from what I was told during the LTC course, this basically means that if your car is being stolen, it has a serial number which can be tracked and recovered. If they're stealing your geranium off your front-porch, there's no guarantee that the recovered item is the same as the one that w...

Re: NRA Against Bump Fire Stocks?

After the past 8 years of success under siege, I'm gobsmacked to read all this dissing on the NRA. GOBSMACKED. The NRA is playing http://marketkulture.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/star-trek-3D-chess-1024x537.jpg And all you can see is https://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/14258064_Alt01?wid=5...

Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam

Not that I would expect it to happen often, but since there is no caliber restriction, could one use an AR pistol with a brace, and then since the atf has decided it's ok, shoulder it? As long as the brace has not been modified and the shoulder use is incidential, sporadic, or situational. True abo...

Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means

Per Texas Penal Code, Deadly Force can be used to recover property under a few conditions. One of the conditions is that "you reasonably believe" that the property "cannot be recovered by any other means". Is there some definition somewhere for this? I mean that is super vague, a...

I would allow it. But remember, you are not allowed to use optics, red dots, lasers, etc. Only open sights.
