Re: HB421 Reported Favorably as Substituted

"Reported favorably as substituted" means that the committee voted on a replacement (substituted) bill that was submitted to the committee and that replacement bill had enough votes to make it out of the committee and sent back to the chamber which the committee serves. Once TLO gets updat...

Re: HB1911: Rep. White's Press Release

My interpretation is that 30.08 signs will be added to restrict unlicensed carry. You are correct if what I was sent is accurate, which seems to be supported by the Press Release. The language used in what I was sent is "Pursuant to Section 30.08, Penal Code (trespass by person not licensed to...

Re: What is CSHB 1911?

CSHB refers to a Committee Substitute. It is a replacement version of the bill accepted by the committee that held hearings on the bill that changes the wording from the initially filed version to something else.

Re: Green/Red chamber

I understand the original posers reluctance to chambering his Glock while carrying. I wouldn't carry carry one in such condition. The thing is that a Glock is a terrible choice for ones first carry, The OP should get rid of the Glock and find a gun with a proper hammer and thumb operated safety. I ...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

Am I interpreting the bill correctly that they are also attempting to remove the additional $100 fee for being a LTC instructor? Nope. The only thing this affects is the cost to apply for a License to Carry. The committee substitute bill reduces the base fee for a first time application from $140 t...

Re: The Egg and I sign change

This morning, the family and I went to our usual Egg and I for breakfast. Upon approaching the entrance, I noticed that the 30.07 sign had been removed from the door and I get just a little excited thinking this is too good to be true. So I started searching around and to my dismay, I find a 30.06 ...

Re: 30.06 vs 30.07 reporting

If they are a private entity (meaning not a government entity) they can post 30.06 or 30.07 signs to their heart's content! There is nothing in the law to stop them from doing so.

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

Reciprocity in my thoughts . Too risky . Studying the concealed carry law for a long trip is complicated with too many risks . Rather than suffering prosecution in other states I simply do not carry , reducing my travel . Would love to take my daughter to national parks and historical sites but not...

Re: Licensed but don't carry? Why?

I carry every day that I can. Unfortunately, my workplace has a "no firearms" policy that extends to the parking lot - even though that is unenforceable. The prospect of carrying to work and then disarming in the parking lot is not appealing as there is significantly more opportunity for s...

Re: Concealed carry by school employees

It seems the fact that I have continually stated I don't believe an LTCer is a safety risk on a campus is repeatedly ignored. If there is no safety risk, why would you restrict it? You seem to be conflating the behavior of people within the school with the fact that those people happened to be LTC ...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Dems are also all but openly admitting that they don't care who POTUS nominates for SCOTUS tonight, they will... do anything else they can do to oppose him or her. ... It won't be about about the quality and credentials of the judge, it will be purely partisan because it's DJT's nomination. Disgrac...
