Re: Obama commutes sentence of Chelsea Manning

He will praise and reward anybody who hurts America. Thats been his goal for years even before he became.......... uuuggghhh. I just cant say it. Bradley shouldnt even be here for the crimes he committed. How about "Failure-in-Chief"? I also like what some writers have called him... "...

Re: HB 1050 - Ad Valorem Tax Reform

Another barrier to something like this getting passed is the idea of totally restructuring the entire Texas education funding system. Not too many people ready to dive into that abyss. That's the beauty of the way the bill is written. Pass it now, and it doesn't repeal the current system until 5 ye...

Re: HB 1050 - Ad Valorem Tax Reform

Consumption tax, even though I could see it impacting business/economy. The current ad valorem tax system is going to start impacting the economy (as if it isn't already) as people won't be able to afford houses any more with interest rates starting to climb and property valuations going through th...

Re: Anti's at the Capitol Today

Typical shoddy journalism/editing by the Statesman. They state that the protestors are gathering to "speak out against permitless carry legislation – what critics have dubbed a “guns everywhere” bill – that would allow weapons in places such as bars, sports arenas and schools" What they do...

HB 1050 - Ad Valorem Tax Reform

http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup/Text.aspx?LegSess=85R&Bill=HB1050 I don't think this has a snowball's chance of passing, but getting rid of property taxes, to be replaced with some other form of taxation has some merit. I hate to see people priced out of their homes because of rising val...

Re: Do you refuse to do business with 30.06 & 30.07 businesses?

Why all of the contempt for property owners who don't want weapons? Yes, we can choose to take our business elsewhere, but why? Is it to punish the owners in an effort to make them "pay" for their daring to prevent you from exercising a right you don't even have on their property? Is that...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

Honest question - how can a Senator provide support for a house bill? I am going to call my senator today and want to know what it is I can actually ask her to do to provide support. There are two ways. If a Senate companion bill is filed, they can sign onto it and/or support it. If no companion is...

Re: HB927: Fines for Preemption Breakers

Not to mention, since it goes through the AG, it means that it will be at least 9 months before any suit would be filed, then it will take 2-4 years before it makes its way through the courts and all appeals are filed. Another law with good intentions that will lack any kind of realistic enforcement...

Re: Do you refuse to do business with 30.06 & 30.07 businesses?

I generally refuse to go anywhere that has a 30.06 sign as they have stripped me of my best chance of self-defense should worse come to worst. I will grumble about a 30.07, but realize it is essentially a dress code. Some people are freaked out by the sight of inanimate objects and some businesses h...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

I spoke recently with Rep. Krause's chief of staff and brought HB560 to his attention. He was unaware of the bill and thanked me for informing him about it. Hopefully he will be able to speak to Rep. Krause and make him aware of the bill and its importance to all LTC holders.
