Re: May Employers fire Employees for Defending Themselves?

It certainly wouldn't be the case in Texas, as we are an "at will" employment state, and an employer can let you go for no reason at and doesn't even have to explain it ("sorry, your services are no longer required"). The only exception is if you are a protected class, and claim ...

Re: From Sweden with love

I just added-on a helicopter rating to my private pilot's license, and as I read this, I was struck by the similarities of all the hoops I had to jump through. Of course, I now have a license to carry passengers, so that's a slight difference, but just a different way of endangering peo[le

Re: GAAA... I'm so confused......

Who won't let you shoot black powder? I shoot BP all the time, I even load my own 45LC with BP. I can understand an indoor range for all the smoke.

For the record, I also have a .45 1911 (WWII vintage, VN trophy)

Re: Recommend an AR at $700 max

Atwood's has had the Ruger 556 on sale recently for $499. I'm not an AR guy, but thought about grabbing one of those. Comments?

"Thank You for your service" I'm a Viet Nam vet and no one gave s**t about my service, so it annoys the c**p out of me now.

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 27 dead 30 injured in mass shooting

Another thing that's notable is that the news media isn't making a PEEP about the real hero here: the guy - the "local armed resident" who engaged in a gunfight with the shooter outside the church and stopped him, apparently killing him. Not a peep. No name, nothing. Of course, there are ...

Re: NYC: Driver of truck mows down pedestrians - 8 - dead

I don't see how having a gun in situations like can prevent the carnage, or even stop a truck. I think your best defense is situational awareness, thinking about possibilities when you find your self in a crowd.

Re: MD:Family of 10 attacked by group of teens in Baltimore's Inner Harbor

Big diff in Chicago as well. I just got back from a week in Cook county and carried everywhere 24/7 (TX resident with a non-res IL CCL). Of course my business did not take me to statutorily prohibited places. Lots of IL folks getting there CCLs, and they have a very active forum similar to this one....

What you will eventually become comfortable with - is that nobody notices.

Congrats on getting your LTC.

Re: The life of a single action

I'm a black powder guy. I just love that bang and cloud of smoke. I have four cap and ball revolvers, two of which I converted to cartridges. I load my own 45 Colt cartridges and shot shells with BP, and use that for SASS shooting.

I always carry OWB, could never get comfortable with IWB. But I am a CCer, I am retired and don't tuck my shirt in for anybody. And I don't have to worry about printing or inadvertent exposure either.

I am a Viet Nam combat vet, and when the hippies were burning the flag, I supported that 1A right, and I continue to support those same 1A rights today. Vote, vote with your wallet, vote with your participation. But you can't restrict others 1A rights without endangering your own.

Re: Branson Mo

Missouri does not have a 30.06 type regulatory sign, and "no guns" signs on private property do not have force of law. However, if you are discovered carrying and asked to leave, and do not, you can be guilty of trespassing. You should check out handgunlaw.us for statutorily prohibited pla...
