Re: Reciprocity with WA?

Even if the hotel is posted, you can legally "transport" the firearm in your luggage (locked case, etc.) to your room.

Re: Veteran's ID Card

How do you have DEERS eligibility if you are not active duty, or retired? See Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_Enrollment_Eligibility_Reporting_System With the expansion of base exchange online shopping privileges to all honorably discharged veterans beginning in 2017,[1] the DEER...

Re: Deerfield Illinois

This will be interesting to see how Deerfield plays this, since IL law invokes preemption in cases like this, but there were certain "windows" for municipalities to pass ordinances. Like everything else, the law lacks clarity, and there is no case law. Highland Park, IL did something simil...

Re: Land survey to GPS coordinates

Yes, there should be a benchmark or found pin as a starting point. Technically it's possible to do the math to calculate the lat/long points using the surveying lingo, there might even be an app for that. While it probably would not be considered legal in a dispute, it would certainly get you close ...

Re: How to handle improperly posted 51% signs, a question of etiquette.

I've used the TABC app to post improper signage several times, and all cases I have received personal emails from TABC investigators asking for more information and reporting back that the issue has been resolved. They are very responsive.

Re: UT Austin - Question About Prospective Freshman Visit

Intercollegiate athletics are no longer automatically banned unless posted 30.06. However, I would not carry either, because a (inadvertent) violation on a campus is a Class A, not a Class C like a regular 30.06.

Re: 30.06 Sign on Private Residence

If the guy is a stickler about it, he probably gives proper notice in the invitation to his sessions. And no need to post 30.07, because if he sees you carrying all he has to do is tell you to leave, and if you do not, you commit Class A trespass. If your community has an ordinance against home busi...

Re: What’s the rules on city parks

I would say you are only required to observe the school rule if you are some sort of participant in the school activity. If you just happen to be in the city park and not associated with the school, you should not be subject to the school rule. The same argument has been used regarding zoo trips, et...

Re: Dick's to stop selling assault style rifles.

How can dicks stop selling what they never sold in the first place (assualt rifles). After Sandy Hook, Dick's stopped selling ARs, but continued through their "Field & Stream" chain. They have stopped that now. But if you think they care about a boycott, forget it, guns/ammo is less t...

Re: Convert GPS location coordinates into route on map?

I wish I had had this last year. I got a ticket for going 95 in a 75 and no way to prove my cruise control was on 75. For the record, I do not speed. The trooper must've just picked out the wrong guy.

I will have to try this to protect myself in the future.

Re: Ham Radio Operator Finds Lost NASA Satellite

Like astronomy, there is so much out there, the professionals cannot possibly look for or research everything that's happening. That's there are always opportunities for serious amateurs to make real contributions, and without a lot of fancy equipment. Satellite orbits are highly predictable, and de...
