Re: Mrs. VolTexan...Part 1

Thanks in no small part to Mrs. VolTexan's story, my wife is carrying her Ruger LCR .38 with her today as she is out and about in Austin. We both received our CHLs in 2013. Since then, I have been working patiently with her to mover her out of the untrained civilian mindset. Leading by example, I ha...

Re: The Mindset of Combat Marksmanship

After 30+ years, I retired from the Army in 2012. I am still adjusting to living among civilians 24/7. ;-) I often remind myself that most folks haven't been trained to kill. It only takes our military a few weeks to inculcate in our warriors the willingness to kill. Trained to kill, yes, but only w...

Re: Called out in church on my CC

I have to admit that some of the posts by open-carry supporters and practitioners taking a " it's none of their business if I'm carrying " approach caused me to chuckle. Apparently, I'm in the minority on this issue. Although it rarely happens, when I'm asked if I'm carrying a gun, I almo...

Re: Called out in church on my CC

I don't like for anyone outside of family to know that I carry. If there is a situation that may require self defense I don't want anyone glancing my way like they are expecting me to do something. And believe me, they will. Glances are giveaways if the assailant is paying attention. :iagree: Real ...

Re: CHL (LTC) Renewal Question

My original CHL expires 3/16/18. I've been checking the DPS site and today the link appeared. I've renewed. Looking forward to getting my first LTC!

Re: Going to Austin. State capitol question.

I have been to the Texas State Capitol many times, four times since getting my CHL in 2013. The last three times were after 1/1/16, so I was carrying openly. There is a separate line for CHL/LTC holders. Have your card out and ready. The DPS will scan your card, hand it back, and say something link ...

Same 3.5inch Gerber assisted opening folder I've carried since last December. My belt is already filled with M&P 5 inch, spare mags, and first aid.

Re: More Military Equipment for Cops

not exactly the topic, but I spent most of this evening working on the hmmv our fire department just bought (hmmv's stink btw). it will effectively fill a very specific need for us, and do it far cheaper than the next best commercial alternative. if there is a clear need for the equipment, and it i...
