Re: 10mm pistol hunting

I have seen on multiple occasions hard cast and FMJ bullets fired from handguns outpenetrate jacketed soft points fired from rifles. http://www.handloads.com/misc/linebaugh.penetration.tests.asp In this one link if you look at the cartridges detailed in the table, there are many many handgun cartri...

Re: 10mm pistol hunting

The Hornady 180 Grain XTP, factory or handloaded, is a stomper in the 10mm. A 180 XTP at around 1200 fps should exit any Whitetail, lots of gel tests on YouTube. If more penetration is needed, use coated hard cast 200s or 220s. The coated hard cast minimize leading with polygonal rifling and compen...

Re: Revolver vs semiauto effective barrel lengths

I don't have the necessary guns to test it but a s&w governor that was loaded with 45 acp could be tested against another 45 with roughly the same length barrel through a crono, same would go for a 9mm revolver vs a semi.

Must kick like a mule. Watched hickock45 on youtube and nothing bothers him but slugs?? Just got a Maverick 88 18 inch barrel on sale at Academy and will try out this weekend with some 00 buckshot. Let us know how this handles. I have an old mule kicker 12g Remington Sportsman that is no fun. All m...

Re: How Far Would You Go To Help?

Obviously the video gives limited information on the situation, however I would believe the person being attacked was in danger of taking a fatal blow in that situation. That would justify using force possible deadly force. From the positions they were in in the video i feel like I would be on the f...

Re: How Far Would You Go To Help?

What kept creeping into my mind was that calling 911 from the train would most likely draw them to you !! And then I had to admit to myself that I normally do not carry enough ammo to take on a crowd ... if the first few shots don't scare them away. For a few years, I rode Dart to work... I am glad...

Re: Length of time for the chambered round

If I'm re-chambering the same round that I pulled before I usually lock the slide back, drop the round in the pipe then release the slide. Just have to remember to pull it back slightly to make sure the extractor caught correctly. Then there should be no set back even if it were going to happen, no...

Re: Ground Speed please

I read an article containing another story from the same pilot talking about the slowest he had ever flown a SR71, it was about as good of a story as this one or any other about high speed, I wish I would have bookmarked it. If I ever find it again I'll try to remember to post a link. http://foxtrot...

Re: Mexico: tourist drinks spiked at resorts. Many die but stories covered up

I won't say they aren't drugging people or using bad alcohol, but at least the teenage girl who died and her brother who both passed out in a pool at the same time had, according to the version of the story I read, had only been at the resort a couple of hours and had taken 5 or 6 shots of tequila. ...

Re: LTC friendly movie theater

We went and watched a movie at a cinemark today, was 07 posted but that wasn't a big deal. I did like their seating, electric recliners, and you can buy tickets before you arrive and actually select the exact seats you want. Also, call me paranoid but I liked the low walls between every row, we were...

Re: Rear or mid beads?

My Mossberg 500c has a ventrib barrel with the mid barrel bead and I shoot it considerably better at clays than another gun with only a front bead. My HD 12 gauge only has a front bead but I don't ever expect to use it at small very fast targets, anothe option I found lately is a see all open sight....

Re: Pass through shots/ liability

Sometimes I wonder about marketing ideas. Names shouldn't matter, but I still wonder. A jury shouldn't care whether a manufacturer names a type of ammo "Humble Petition to Kindly RSVP Your Plans to Leave Me in Peace" or "Flesh Rending Zombie Death." But what if Shannon Watts is ...

Re: Mental Tips for Stiff Trigger?

I have never shot Smith and Wesson striker guns well. The trigger with the center hinge always caused me to shoot poorly, if I were to buy one I'd probably change the trigger for a glock/xd style with a safety bar instead of the hinge. I shot 2 mags with my SD40 and promptly ordered an Apex trigger...

Re: Question about a rear pocket holster.

I watched a video about a rear pocket holster a few years ago and I now have the means to get it and a new gun to go with it but now I can't seam to find it. With as many holster as you all may have had and seen I was hoping that you might know of the brand of holster. It is for sub compacts like t...
