Re: .45 HP necessary YorN

If you carry ball ammo, carry good ball ammo. Winchester white box ammo is fine for practice, for example, but I've experienced two failures to return to battery from 9 MM cases that were too long.

I'd say JHP is a better choice than ball, but either one will leave a mark.

Re: How This ‘Gun Rights Group’ Is Profoundly Damaging Your Second Amendment Rights

I sent NAGR $25 once. All I can say is I was duped. If I had only known, I wouldn't bear that stigma. Tom Gresham (Gun Talk Radio) is particularly plain-spoken about them. I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something along the lines of if NAGR's HQ was on fire, he still wouldn't bother to ...

As Larry McMurtry once wrote, "The new Texas is probably going to be a sort of kid brother to California, with a kid brother's tendency to imitation."

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

Bonnen has now signed on as a co-author. I'm not sure exactly what co-authors really are, or what sponsors do, but it seems shameful it took this long for anyone else to step up to the plate. I called my Representative, Kacal, and learned he's not supporting most legislation until it gets to the Hou...

Re: Had a Knife Pulled on Me While Walking My Dog in Central Lubbock

Pull a knife on me...bang bang double tap to the center of forehead and heart. That's how us tactical special forces types do it. Then we call the cleanup squad to dispose of the evidence. That's what I do now that I retired from CIA specops, independent cleaner.... Check my ad in this months issue...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

I had some fun today. I called several Representatives and told them my Representative, Kacal, needs some help. I explained he's a good man, bless his heart, and he really has his constituents' best interests foremost. The poor guy just can't risk schoolyard bullies like Strauss. By this time I was ...

No sponsors or co-authors yet, either, for HB560.

Re: Sig P250 questions

Grab the P250 while its hot, I guess. I went to the Sig site and the only model listed is in .22. I called Sig customer service (very nice folks) and there are no new P250's being built at this time. It's not officially discontinued, but it is not selling enough to keep it in production. They come w...

Re: Sig P250 questions

Thanks for the comments. My P320 subcompact has followed me around quite a bit this winter. I very lightly polished the frame where the trigger bar pads touch with a cloth polisher in a Dremel tool and I put an Apex flat trigger in it. It's nice and I can hit with it. The P250 sounds like a similar ...

Sig P250 questions

Lately I've been thinking about the relative safety of hammer versus striker fired guns, particularly when holstering. How does the trigger on a P250 compare to a Kahr PM9? I like the safety of a long trigger pull, although I'm sure there is such a thing as too long. The Kahr trigger, to me, is very...

Re: HB560 and HB1911 in Same Session

We have spent enough political capital on open carry. We need to spend that capital this year working on removing restrictions on LTC. After the OCT crowd and their actions last session, I personally don't think that the legislature would pass constitutional carry any time soon. :thumbs2: If it was...

Re: KHOU - New bill against carrying firearms while intoxicated

How about a law against measurable blood alcohol while sitting in a legislative body? Being hung over is impaired, so we can't let hangovers influence legislation. Legislators should never approach inebriation while in session, even during weekend breaks. They write the laws that protect our childre...

One would hope the value of arms in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising would not be lost on their moderator, a rabbi. The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising managed to take out about 300 Nazis. Resistance was stilled when the Nazis started burning buildings, killing about 13,000. It started when the imprisoned Jewish c...

Re: Sig Sauer P320C Grip Shell

What is a grip shell? Thanks! A Sig P320 (or P250, I think) has a plastic frame and grip that isn't legally a gun. The legal gun is this little fire control thing buried inside, and you can transfer it to different grip shells, slides, and recoil springs to get different size and caliber guns. As a...

Regarding the effectiveness of my little mouse gun when a random stranger gets the word to rip my head off with a rusty Buck knife, I get it. I'm not having a good day. Everyone in that bus was at risk from that madman. Everyone qualified should have been carrying and it should have been legal for t...
