Re: Help me understand something

The biggest thing to have in a different room is distractions. Having the ammo in a different room isn't a bad idea, just so long as you don't handle the gun any differently because the ammo is distant. My guess is the formality of moving the gun away from the ammo is a good way to overtly acknowled...

Mechanical trustworthiness

I sometimes have second thoughts about carrying my P320. No safety. Anything that engages the trigger fires the gun, and I don't believe in empty chambers. My holster isn't the fanciest (Alien Gear), but I've carefully confirmed nothing can touch the trigger. It's also important to make sure that no...

Re: Convince me that constitutional carry is a good thing

Whatever case can be made for the restrictive regulation of this cherished right of ours, no credible argument can be made that American founders had the slightest desire to take guns off the street. From Federalist 46, my favorite (emphasis on the obvious is mine): Extravagant as the supposition is...

Re: Shoot a Glock? Check Out ‘The Gadget’ If You Wanted Added Safety

Now I'm thinking about buying another gun.

Mmmm.... Sig P250.... Like a P320 except it has a hammer I can control with my thumb when holstering....

Re: Shoot a Glock? Check Out ‘The Gadget’ If You Wanted Added Safety

As I understand, it doesn't alter the trigger, it just follows the trigger bar motion.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat for my P320, but I don't think the P320 lends itself to the idea.

Re: Green/Red chamber

A short throw trigger without a manual safety that's separate from the trigger is a risk. Recognize risks and work around them, that's the need with any gun. Glock purists seem to hate The Gadget, featured in NRA's Gun Gear of the Week today, but I don't understand why. It lets your thumb monitor an...

Re: Green/Red chamber

Why mess with snap caps? I prefer loading up with good ol' American air for dry fire practice. Live rounds are best for checking the loaded chamber indicator. With a snap cap you are free to develop the habit of confirming a loaded chamber and then firing a dry practice shot at the TV. Rifles and ri...

Re: Green/Red chamber

All good advice. I'd add that you should have muscle memory and procedures down cold before carrying a gun in any condition.

Of course, an empty chamber is not a free ride anyway. An un-chambered gun is handled in precisely the same way it is when loaded and ready to go.

Re: Holster for ccw in a kilt

I first read about Kilt Carry in: Robert Heinlein's Methuselah's Children The character's name is Lazarus Long Published 1941 I think it was a blaster not a hand gun but it's been a while... I read the book in the mid 1960's. It's the sequel to "Time Enough for Love", and I read them both...

Re: Not the best instructor

Geez. Now I'll have nightmares, but on the other hand, I've promised myself as soon as I stop recognizing there's nothing special about me, that gun safety is always a matter of good decisions right now, and now, and now, and on forever without cessation, then I will give up guns. My wife had a fail...

Re: SA Pistol Trigger Pound Pull

I dry-fired (with permission) a Sig P250 earlier today. Very impressive. It was like a P320 with a Kahr trigger, except I believe the trigger was lighter. Couldn't say for sure, I only dry-fired it twice, but I think the pull was a little shorter than a Kahr. The P250 is a spitting image of a P320 e...

Re: Businesses Posting 30.06/07 Should Provide Safe Storage

Will STILL cost a business owner thousands of dollars.......... to satisfy the 4% of the state's population that is licensed to carry a firearm.....of whom only a percentage actually carry their firearms? It's not going to happen. They are not required to provide you with a microphone and a stage t...

Re: Robber Run Down and Shoots Self

Interesting. Hard to be upset, but looking at it clinically I wonder how this will play out in court. Gassing it to slam the marauder with the open rear door of the car was justified (and creative). He had a gun and was in the commission of an armed robbery. Running him down was just, but will it be...

Abandon defilade only when you have to, I imagine. Glad the trooper is going to be ok.
