Re: HB 1050 - Ad Valorem Tax Reform

The only good thing about property tax is that we don't have income tax. I have coworkers in Ohio who work at home one day a week. If they live outside the city they can cut their city income tax by 20% by working at home like that. City income tax. That's how bad it can get. I make good money but I...

Re: Do you shoot a handgun with both eyes open?

Either eye, either hand. I prefer to shoot with one eye closed because of parallax between my eyes.

Always with the front sight in sharp focus, as best as I can focus these eyes sharply, and the target fuzzy.

Re: Guns + Roommates using Marijuana

When young and stupid, I didn't always vacate the premises when someone had illegal drugs. Now, it's a totally different story. Light up and I become one with the highway. I'm wiser. Your doper friends have friends. Do you trust them? Do you trust their dealers? How inconvenient would it be to pay a...

My fear is a resurrection of the 60's. I could see that happening.

3:30. There is a spot that's just right. Concealment is better at 4:30 or so, but it's hidden anywhere around there.

Re: New license says nothing about "Conceal"

The license, here in Texas, now covers OC and CC, but when visiting other states you must abide by and follow their laws regarding carry. If the other state does not allow OC then you still cannot OC just because our license permits us to do so in Texas. Be very careful and mindful of the laws of w...

Re: Do you refuse to do business with 30.06 & 30.07 businesses?

My related question is, do you avoid churches that post 30.06 or 30.07? I have the same position as i do with a business. When we moved here two years ago, we visited a church in New Braunfels several times but never saw a sign. While reviewing the Texas3006.com app for local businesses that were p...

Single action glass break? Definitely an argument for manual safeties not connected to the trigger, in my 1911-centric opinion.

Re: SB 288 - Motorcycle "lane splitting" bill

I hope this bill passes. A few weeks back, I started watching every motorcycle "how to" video I could find. Lane-splitting, counter-steering and braking are popular videos. I see the advantage of lane-splitting for bikers and motorists. BTW, my quest to return to riding after decades away...

Tinnitus? I thought that was my finely balanced mental turbines at full military power!

All the tinnitus cures I've seen advertised are holistic, which is always no more than placebo medicine.

Re: Charlton Heston's "A Torch With No Flame"

Very moving.

Self defense is a side effect of carrying a firearm. What counts is bearing a share of American freedom with peaceful intention, firm resolve to keep liberty secure, and respect for those who defend this remarkable land.

Re: I just dont have any words...

I wrote a nice email to the NRA and got an answer. I'm happy the image of questionable gun handling is gone, but sorry to hear of a book disappearing. Here's what I got back: Thank you for your support of the NRA. Yes unfortunately this was an updated edition that replaced the 2nd edition, so it was...

Re: Texas Carry Executive Director sued for filing signage complaint against Waller County

How bold of Waller County - the lawsuit states as uncontroverted that the AG agrees with Holcombe and that the County disagrees with the AG. It would be funny, but now I'm skeered to travel in Waller County, "skeered" being the state of youthful terror commonly brought about by spiders. If...

Re: Glock pron

Bubba was handy with acetylene and duct tape, and figured his friends would all flock to buy his custom Glocks chambered in .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer.

They would have, too, had it not been for that day at the range and 160 grains of Bullseye. That fateful day.

Joe Straus, at it again

The legislative session begins tomorrow, yet Joe Straus is already sending out email as Speaker. I get it that he is technically still Speaker from his last election, but the day before the Speaker's election seems unfortunate timing to brag, as he did in email today, "I am honored to again hav...
