Re: Mossberg Shockwave

I'd love to have one, but unfortunately for us here in Texas, the "intended to be fired from the shoulder" text does not exist for shotgun definition under Texas Penal Code, to my knowledge. So, while it would be unlikely under federal law for shockwave to be considered a short-barreled s...

The TLO says it was considered in committee today, a substitute was offered, and the substitute was reported favorably ("passed") by the committee. No text of the substitute bill yet.

Re: Checked baggage containing a firearm.

The skinny? The skinny is my wife, my 2 year old and myself are flying to the northeast to visit family... If by some unfortunate twist of fate or bad weather your airplane, with your gun in your checked baggage, is diverted into either New Jersey or New York and you are forced to deplane, you have...

Re: Texas Illegal Knife Bill unanimously passes out of committee.

HB 1935 was read in the Senate and referred to the Criminal Justice Committee on 5/10, some time after 11 a.m. The Committee was scheduled to meet that day at 2:00 p.m. but did not consider HB 1935 - that would be a quick turn if they did. The Committee meets next on 5/16 at 2:00 p.m., but as of kno...

Mossberg shockwave - request for AG opinion

Representative Phil King has asked the Texas AG for an opinion about whether the Mossberg shockwave is legal in Texas.

I am on my phone, and doing links is a royal pain, so no linky right now. You can go to the Attorney General's website and look up requests for opinion.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

Conservative House members are planning to torpedo more than 100 bills today : Earlier in the evening, members of the self-labeled Freedom Caucus signaled their intent to do damage with an impromptu news conference where they announced they would use a procedural maneuver to kill more than 100 bill...

Re: Texas Illegal Knife Bill unanimously passes out of committee.

My summary/restatement of the engrossed version: "Location-restricted knife" (LRK) means a knife with a blade over five and one-half inches long. That's the entire definition. Nothing about edges, configuration (e.g. stiletto) etc. "Location Restrictions" for those 18 years of ag...

Re: IN: Police May Not Detain Armed Hoosiers to Check for Handgun License

In the reported case I am ambivalent about the result because we ended up with a felon with a gun getting a free pass. :iagree: I am happy about the ruling, but I wish it had been someone who was legal to carry. The irony is that we wouldn't have gotten the ruling if the person were legal to carry....

IN: Police May Not Detain Armed Hoosiers to Check for Handgun License

I recall that at the last Legislative Session two years ago that Open Carry almost got derailed at the last moment when the "law enforcement community" blew a gasket over an amendment that would have explicitly forbid police to stop people solely because they were (presumably open) carryin...

Re: MA: Two physicians tied up and throats slit...

WRT to the individual perpetrator, I suspect it is going to be found that he has some mental health issues. The open borders crowd has deliberately conflated illegal and legal immigration in an effort to confer legitimacy on illegal immigration, an attempt to force people to believe they are choosin...

Re: Texas Illegal Knife Bill unanimously passes out of committee.

To the best of my ability, in the attached Word document I inserted the Dutton amendment changes into CSHB 1935. It was very tedious. I make no claim as to the accuracy of this, nor for its suitability for any purpose. Do not call me for bail money. I have no idea of this makes it clearer or not. ;-)
