Re: TX: Houston couple tied up and murdered by robbers

Even if carrying, a robbery is going to require a perhaps instantaneous decision between "If I give them what they want maybe the will go away without hurting anyone. Or not" and "If I fight back I might win (i.e. come out unharmed). Or not." But for dang sure do not let them tie...

Re: Kahr P9

I have a Kahr P-9 and I love the ergonomics of it, it is really a slick little gun. The only problem is it does not like ammunition about a certain speed. Fired cases kept getting caught with certain ammo, and when I did some chronographing I realized that anything above a certain velocity*** would ...

Re: Franklin Armory coming out with non-NFA 11.5” AR variant

It may be using an oval barrel like that Russian gun that was made for Russians recently. They use an oval barrel that has a twist to it to impart the spin.... This? NJ: 7-11 Robbery gone right

Bad language, but good feelz. Key quote: "It's fake" "Oh well, mines is real" 711 robbery with a twist (Since it has naughty language, I post link instead of vid. You be warned.) ETA: I forgot to note that the link is to a YouTube video of a robbery gone right.

Re: Hawaii: False alarm on missile strike was Trumps's fault

I'm willing to bet that NORAD had nothing to do with this. The stories I've seen have conspicuously avoided reporting any responsibility for this, except for single mention of "someone hit the wrong button." The fact that accountability is unaccountably missing certainly indicates to me t...

I'm pulling this from another forum that pulled it form yet another forum that I can't find, so caveat emptor and all that, but: Originally Posted by 26 USC 5845 (b) Machinegun The term “machinegun” means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatica...

Re: Franklin Armory coming out with non-NFA 11.5” AR variant

Is there another way to carve the inside of a barrel that stabilizes bullets but is not technically/legally "rifling"?

Re: Franklin Armory coming out with non-NFA 11.5” AR variant

So a guy on Soldiersystems.net says he called the factory and asked if it was a smoothbore, and they said no, but wouldn't cough up anything more than that. http://soldiersystems.net/2018/01/11/franklin-armory-announces-reformation-11-5-barrel-w-conventional-stock-no-tax-stamp/ Lotta speculation the...

...My guess: The bullet does not spin, therefore it is unstable, and accuracy suffers while bullet upset during terminal ballistics would occur earlier along the wound path. ... But how much does accuracy suffer over a short distance? For PDW type weapon, especially in civilian engagement, typical ...

Re: Franklin Armory coming out with non-NFA 11.5” AR variant

That's interesting enough to make me think I might get interested in ARs.

I wonder what the short range ballistics of a smooth bore [insert typical AR caliber here] actually are, and how they compare to rifled. "Short range" being less than 100 meters, maybe even 50.

Re: Recent jury verdict after mob beating near A&M

I did some digging and found the case in the tenth court of appeals...At least I think it is the case.. The appellate cause no. is 10-15-00066-CV. The case appears to be "pending." http://www.search.txcourts.gov/Case.aspx?cn=10-15-00066-CV&coa=coa10 dlh Wondered about the status of th...

This seems to be more of a "law of the parties" charge, or probably more accurately a combination of LOP and felony murder rule.
