Re: Warrantless Search of a motorcycle

I fully understand the argument that a motor vehicle is easily mobile so the search is justifiable without a warrant, IF there is probable cause. Personally, I DON'T get that. What difference does it make if it's a car (or motorcycle or go-cart) and it's mobile? They had mobile vehicles and transpo...

Re: Warrantless Search of a motorcycle

For what they're worth, my ideas are embedded in the abbreviated quote below: Issue 1. Does a police officer need a warrant to walk onto your property that is not gated? I would say no. ... I guess I'm not getting what difference it would make if the property were gated or not, it's still private pr...

Re: Gun shots in celebration of the coming of 2018.

In talking to my wife yesterday (January 1), I realized one of my near-by neighbors probably did this very thing. We were already in bed (we're old - been there, done that! ) I was already asleep, but she normally stays up late, so she was in bed, but wasn't asleep. About 12:30 AM she wakes me...

Re: Would You Tell?

J.R.@A&M wrote:This scripture comes to mind: “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.”

Wow, J.R., that's weird. I just read that passage just this morning! Hadn't thought of it in that context, though. Something to think about, for sure.

Would You Tell?

As most of us know, with the recent change in Texas law and with recent events in Texas, many churches (especially smaller ones) are getting more active in trying to provide some kind of volunteer security force. The small church that I attend is no different. We do already have something currently ...

Re: Do you ride a motorcycle, what kind and how do you carry

I ride an '08 Harley Ultra Classic (my "Winnebago bike" as the wife calls it). We do and have ridden it pretty much all over the country, except on the Left and Right coasts. (My avatar pic is me on that bike, on the Tail of the Dragon). On the bike I normally wear the regular Harley ridin...

Re: Why legal guns can’t be banned from state parks

Quote from the article linked in the original post above (emphasis added): According to the minority dissent, “When people come together in Parks and Forests for games and recreation, emotions can run high . “When folks camp, they sometimes drink , including at events within the Parks like beer and ...

Ever Shoot with No Ear Protection for Training?

I'm sure most of us routinely use ear protection when we are shooting for practice or training or whatever similar activity. However, if we ever have to fire our weapon in a real-life defense situation, we are almost certainly NOT going to have ear protection on. If you haven't noticed, gunfire is p...

Re: Concealed Carry Reciprocity is on the Move: Your Lawmakers Need to Hear from You NOW!

I'm late to the game (as usual)! I have not read this entire thread, though I will over the next day or two, so these points have already been covered. But here are a couple of things that I notice in my limited reading so far. Most of us (some of us?) decry giving special permissions to the &...

How about federal charges of the shooter denying the victim of her civil rights?

Re: Undocumented migrant Murderer of Kate Steinle in San Fransisco found not guilty

How could they have found him innocent of even involuntary manslaughter??? They did convict him of being a felon with a gun. Involuntary manslaughter is basically an unintentional killing due to reckless and/or criminal behavior, so how does that not fit???. I just don't get it. Again, unbelievable!...

Would You Favor Special Privilege?

Arkansas recently passed some laws which include allowing licensed handgun carriers to obtain an "enhanced" license which would then allow that person to carry their handgun into some locations that would be prohibited places for a person with a "regular" license. I don't know mu...

Re: Now this is the reason why I carry

Excellent job on your part, sir, all the way around. I know we all probably want to not HAVE to get involved, but sometimes our hand may be forced. Thugs can be such downers. Thank the Lord that it worked out well. I can’t think of anything I’d have done different, except (because I’m old and slow),...
