Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

President Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that forgives all student loan debt for any permanently disabled U.S. military veterans.
Hmmm. I looked for this story on CNN but didn't find it. I must have just overlooked it. :rolll

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Yes, it was a great speech. All the way around.

It almost seems like a selfish self interest on my part, but when he started talking about respecting the job that the police do, and talking about the crime and murder rate in Chicago, I was soooo hoping that he would also make some kind of mention about some action that his administration would be taking to help insure that the right of the citizens to bear arms in their own self defense would not be infringed, but I did not hear that. I did have some other stuff going on here at the house at the same time, so maybe he did and I just missed it?

Oh, well. If he did not, I will continue to try to be patient. To be Captain Obvious, I have no doubt that being a new president - being a new effective president - is a yuge job! I think he's doing a fantastic job so far. And I understand that there are a lot of things more pressing, and that everything can't be at the top of his list all at once. So I will continue to be patient - just don't forget the promises you made to us, Mr. President. :patriot:

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

“The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror,” Trump said in a statement on Sunday. “To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion -- this is about terror and keeping our country safe,” noting that there are at least 40 countries that are predominantly Muslim that “are not affected” by the order. (emphasis mine)
“It is deeply irresponsible to characterize this Executive Order as a ‘Muslim ban’ -- it is not,” Chairman of House Homeland Security Committee Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told Fox News. “The order puts a pause on refugee admissions and temporarily halts immigration from seven countries, each of which was already designated by the Obama administration as an area of terror concern.” (emphasis mine)
So why all the protests? My opinion, these protesters are either honestly misinformed or are intentionally disregarding the truth. And I'm heavily leaning towards one of those over the other.
