If anyone could make the online training, cool. But having requirements for previous online training experience shuts out almost everyone.

In response to John: My defensive driving was not live. It was recorded, with no way to ask questions.
Exactly. This cuts out the little guys. And I bet the bigger training companies have a bias against this kind of thing....

I wonder if any of the million defensive driving companies would be able to do this? That's online training experience....

Re: HB 3784

It's gunna be defensive driving.
Should still be a live, interactive (read: video conference... Skype, webex, etc), but this makes it sound like it's going to be allowed to be identical to defensive driving.

I like the idea of making it easier access for people, but you need two way communication for this class. Too many things need clarification throughout the course- at least that's what it seemed like the rest of the classroom needed when I was there. I asked several questions as well.

There will still be places off limits by statute to carry a handgun for non-LTC holders that are not off limits to LTC holders unless there is a 30.06/7 sign, namely:

Hospitals
Amusement Parks
Government meetings subject to Open Meetings Act
School zones
College campuses
And who knows about gun buster signs...
I'm sure there's more that we are forgetting

IMHO, this bill is in search of an issue that doesn't exist. Lowering the cost of the LTC to $40 is a much better step to take than this.

There are some subjects that should be taught face to face. Topics concerning licensing for carrying of a weapon on a daily basis is one of them.
