Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

Don't forget, 1/20/18 is the next meeting. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll make this one. Since moving back to the area (finally) for the new position at work (railroad) I have weekend coverage every 5th weekend. Not that it entails much, just keep an eye on the network and such. But, being is tha...

Re: CHL friendly theaters in Fort Worth?

Awesome, thank you for the suggestions. We used to like the Starplex in Lake Worth, but as noted once they became AMC that went out the window.

Re: Gun shots in celebration of the coming of 2018.

If fired and landing from a flat surface (ie same level) and at greater than a 45 degree angle, the bullet will expend all its horizontal velocity prior to landing. So the only energy remaining in the bullet will be that of its terminal velocity from gravitational acceleration. So,it is not necessa...

Re: Not your average dilemma

There is an outfit I have heard only good about, it's been a while but I believe they are called Dury's Guns. My understanding is they can sell the entire collection on consignment for the estate and maximize the profit. I'm not 100% sure that is who I recall hearing so much about, but I'm "ni...

Re: Not your average dilemma

You're right to be concerned, as the task of inventorying everything, especially to a non-gun guy, would be tremendous. Even to those of use in the know it would likely take some time to research and fully understand exactly what you're looking at. All that said I think you're offer is a generous on...

Re: Leather holster too tight

Have you thought about wrapping the gun in some plastic bags and leaving it inserted for a few days? As others have noted this should solve your issue. Saran Wrap is also a fun way to go! :coolgleamA: What about vacuum sealing the gun, or is that just for when you plan to store your backu...

Re: Ever Shoot with No Ear Protection for Training?

As Beirut’s notes in a stressful situations where your focus is on either getting away from danger, or engaging it, it is often reported that most people go into a sort of auditory exclusion. I would imagine if I were using my gun in a self defense scenario I probably wouldn’t even notice the sound ...

Re: Hornady Critical Defense 9mm Ammo

^^^This is one reason I like the Lucky gunner series of videos as it’s a true apples to apple comparison, realizing it’s not the most lifelike medium. Thus I’ll usually check his videos afterward to see if he has one for that particular round, but as a compasrison between rounds they’re not great as...

Re: Sig P226 9mm for $369

I’d agree with Scott. If you could get it closer to $325 I’d do it. You’ll probably want to replace all the springs (~$35) and then pick up some 15 or 18 round Med-Gar mags (~$25/each). So for $425 all in you’d have a great shooter.

Re: Hornady Critical Defense 9mm Ammo

As a general rule SD loads tend to run hotter than your garden variety range ammo. It may be that the more robust recoil and report was throwning off your shooting. That said it can’t hurt to try out some of the other loads listed here. I’m partial to Federal HST in 124 grain. The Gold Dots are also...

I shoot these out of several pistol platforms as well as my SBR’d CZ Scorpion, all suppressed. Never any issues.
