Re: Prayers needed for my middle daughter

Praying that God will use His power to heal your daughter, as a testament to His Glory. Praying that your daughter will not lose faith in God, regardless of what the doctors may say, or the outcome. Praying for you, your family, and community to have the strength to surround your daughter with love ...

Re: Chris Cypert?

I wasn't in 5th Group, but reached out to a peer who was. He didn't recognize Cypert's name, but reached out to some of his peers from 5th GRP. He said the feedback he received, within minutes of me asking, was that Cypert is a solid guy. "I'm hearing nothing but great things about him", t...

Re: 2023 Instructor Renewals

I'm thinking we won't get the link to the online class & test until after Sept 1st, since that's when most of new legislation tends to go into effect. If I recall correctly, when we have to go in-person for the renewal class, the dates are crammed between Sept to Dec. Just got my email for the ...

Re: 61 Minute of Angle Zero Shift with Vortex Viper Red Dot Sight

Thanks for the feedback! The G-19 is the only pistol I currently have that the Viper RDS fits on so I didn't swap it out, but I'm confident it was the optic & not the gun. I could look at the dot through the optic, and then refocus on the front sight & see how far off it was from the point o...

61 Minute of Angle Zero Shift with Vortex Viper Red Dot Sight

I decided to get a RDS for my Glock 19 a couple years ago, but didn't really put many rounds through it since it wasn't my every day carry gun. Other than using it for the DPS' First Responders Course, it was basically just used to familiarize myself with RDS'. Last October I began training with it ...

Re: Restaurant with bar section

It likely depends on what part of the premises are included in the TABC license. If you have ever noticed signs at a place that sells alcohol for on-premises consumption to the effect of "No Alcoholic Beverages Beyond This Point", that likely is the demarcation line for the area included i...

Re: Stop the Bleed is a must for a anyone

The month of May was "Stop the Bleed Month".I was a bit slow in finishing up the editing, but here's my contribution to the effort for 2023. It's the full Stop the Bleed - Basic course, plus demonstration of the three skills stations of Direct Pressure / Tourniquet Application / Wound Pack...

Re: Accuracy 1st’s Todd Hodnett Shares Long-Range Shooting Secrets

Todd Hodnett is the real deal. He is humble, but when he starts a block of instruction about how he uses "simple Cowboy Math" for his formulas, then starts talking about cosine of this, & cosine of that, you realize that his mind is going about as fast as he speaks! And the way he has ...

Re: Course of Fire

Your observations are correct. The DPS' course of fire does not mandate what the start position is, so it is up to the instructor to determine. I don't recall if it was asked during my initial instructor certification or if it was the 2013 renewal class in Georgetown, but the Trooper said that the ...

Re: 30 Super Carry

I had a student use a Shield Plus in .30 Super Carry in a 3-day defensive pistol class last December. I looked but couldn't find the photos of a recurring malfunction it was having. If I remember correctly, the round attempting to feed from the magazine would randomly fail to feed into the chamber. ...
