Re: On line classes have started

There's a requirement for the on-line students to receive 1 to 2 hours of range instruction, and to conduct the Range Proficiency Exam. Govt Code 411.188 (on pg 18 of the 2018 LTC-16) says: (d-1) A qualified handgun instructor shall require an applicant who successfully completed an online version o...

Re: LTC class tonight - Application question - Background

LTC-100 is good for 2 years, application is only good for 1. Thanks. I know it used to be that way, but somewhere I had read a post that said the GC had changed it. Apparently it did change this January... LTC-100 & LTC-101s are only valid for 1 year now. http://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/public/re...

Re: Need advice on a IWB for a Glock

I like Milt Sparks and Ryan Grizzle (I own examples from both makers) but they may take a while to get these days. If you need it quickly, a decent Kydex design would likely be more suitable. I like M Sparks also. However the lead time these days is measured in months. For a quicker turn around I l...

Re: Medical accessories

Question #1: On my person, I rarely carry an aid kit or tourniquet. That's something that I intend to rectify in the short term, but haven't yet. In both of our vehicles I have an old M-3 aid bag (surplus Combat Lifesaver bag), that I've stocked with the following: - 1x SOFT-W (for massive extremity...

Re: Good afternoon, Teaching first class

Welcome to the forum. Here's a few things to consider as you get your classes going: 1. Learn the search function on this forum if you have any questions regarding what the Penal Code says, or means. If you can't find where it's already been asked, ask. Someone will be able to answer it, or point ou...

Re: LTC class tonight - Application question - Background

They didn't really cover this topic too much in class tonight and I'm not in any big hurry to get the actual license since the LTC100 is good for 2 years. C I'm not an instructor, but I've heard that a recent change makes the LTC-100 only good for one year now. Perhaps KeithB can clarify for you. G...

Re: LTC class tonight - Application question - Background

You still need to submit paperwork even if the case was dismissed. Submit paperwork even if everything is clear? Exactly how far back do they go during the criminal background check? There's no time limit on 'how far back' they look; they look at your entire criminal history (in Texas, or anywhere ...

Re: Sponge-Inspired XSTAT Device Quickly Seals Gunshot Wounds

Old news, actually. These have been around for a few years now. When I took my Medic 1 class from LoneStar Medics, they were leery of using these things, partly because it involves inserting a foreign object into the wound, which transcends what a non-professional is permitted to do by law . Also, ...

Re: Reciprocity with WA?

Not the direct answer your looking for regarding hotels, but in general "No", the 30.06/30.07 statutes do not negate a license holders MPA. Mike, yes, we're overlapping. The 30.06 statute and sign say "may not enter this property with a concealed handgun." I assume you mean as l...

Re: Reciprocity with WA?

Personally, I don't think a licensee can randomly "switch" to MPA at their own discretion. Here's an example" Two persons are driving their cars to a destination. One has a Texas LTC, and the other does not. The LTC is CC-ing, and the other has a handgun concealed somewhere in the ca...

Re: Reciprocity with WA?

Now a new twist. Found this online by Googling (name of hotel) firearms policy. "Thank you for contacting _______________ regarding our firearm policy. While we understand your right to carry your firearm as a concealed carry permit holder, all of our locations prohibit any guest from possessi...

Re: Reciprocity with WA?

I believe a license holder would be covered going directly to and from their vehicle to their room, if the hotel is posted, then he could not do business in the common areas (vending machines or checking in and out, etc.). The best behavior would be to transport firearm in luggage when checking in ...

Re: Reciprocity with WA?

We don't have reciprocity, but Texas unilaterally honors WA licenses. Thanks!!! Now question #2. I know he can carry into the hotel, unless it's posted 30.06, as he is "licensed." But what if it's posted 30.06, can he carry under the MPA into his room? Or, is this a "grey area?"...

Re: MI: 14 year old comes to door for directions, shot at by homeowner

I haven't seen any versions of the story other than the one linked by Philip964, so there may be more. However, based on the linked article, the police interviewed the shooter & his wife as well as the 14 y.o. They also reviewed the home security footage. Based on the video evidence, they said t...
