Re: Another armed teacher poll

Out of 25k votes cast so far, 58% agree with laws that allow licensed carry by teachers.

I'm wondering if this was the results MSNBC thought they'd be getting... :headscratch

ETA: By the time I posted this & hit the refresh button, it was up to 26k votes.

If you haven't watched this video yet, it's well worth the 4 minutes 20 seconds. Nothing we don't already know, but he's very articulate in his presentation.

Re: Let's Really Protect Our Schools

Another aspect of this would be the actual job description of the volunteer. Remember, actual active shooters in schools don't happen every day. 99.99% of these guys would spend 99.99% of their time doing... what? Sitting in the front office playing Solitaire on a computer? Standing in the hallway ...

School Safety Course PPT updated

I'm on the road today, but just saw an email from the RSD that they've updated the Power Point slides with the videos embedded. I haven't had a chance to downloading & compare, so not sure if it's the same videos they already provided during the Instructor Course, or something new. Just an FYI f...

Re: Stop the Bleed

Just a note here. The use of quick clot or similar agents is not recommended unless the patient is five or more hours away from an ER/Trauma Center. It works but it also causes a lot of problems for the surgeons when they get the patient in the ER. Direct Pressure or a tourniquet are the preferred ...

Re: 30.06 on INSIDE doors

"Property" is generally defined to include not just the building(s) but also any surrounding parking lots, and other land. So a 30.07 sign posted at the door to a building may not actually be posted at the entrance to the property, as required by the statute. That said, it's a bit of a mo...

Re: Texas Laws on Civil Liability

Can anyone, especially an attorney, please explain what part of Texas law is in effect according to these two statutes. They seem to be in conflict. Thank you. Sec. 9.06. CIVIL REMEDIES UNAFFECTED. The fact that conduct is justified under this chapter does not abolish or impair any remedy for the c...

Re: Shortage of Gold Dot ammo?

Ammunition Depot has 77 boxes left as of right now, at a little over $25 per box of 50 (not including tax/shipping/etc). https://www.ammunitiondepot.com/282-speer-gold-dot-9mm-124-grain-hp.html?search_query=Gold+dot&results=55 ETA: Beiruty's link has the same, but for $21/box of 50. I might have...

Thanks guys, I have told her she can read it from DPS Web site but insist on having a printed copy, we don't have a printer so I was hoping to be able to just pick one up somewhere, guess I can order the CD and get it printed! Sorry if my post wasn't clear. You can order it in booklet form from the...

Re: LTC 16?

The newest version (2017-2018) is available for download on the DPS website, & the order form for getting a print version is at the same 'Downloadable" page for $5/each. However, the order form posted still references the 2015-2016 version, so not certain you'd be getting the current versio...

Re: Question about Carrying into a Correctional Facility

Good question. Upon reviewing the statute, it appears to say (IANAL) that a license holder unlawfully carrying in any of the places listed in section 46.035 is guilty of a class A misdemeanor, with the exception of sections b-1 (51% location) and b-3 (correctional facility), which are third-degree ...

Wow, welcome to the forum! You are brand new here, & you've already opened a very thoughtful discussion & brought a specific topic to discuss. Thanks! I typically recommend to avoid posting signs such as the one in your image, for two reasons: 1. It implies that you own firearms, & firea...
