Re: The Mindset of Combat Marksmanship

... presenting a firearm in and of itself is not a tactic. I run into alot of folks that think presenting a firearm will runoff the bad guys. Presuming the situation meets the legal requirements for deadly force for self-defense, then one must have the mindset to stop the threat by taking lives to ...

Re: Close call over the weekend...

I would also file a complaint with animal control, they can issue fines and do more than the police. We had an experience with pitbulls and animal control gave them a warning. In fact the deputy sheriff told us to call animal control. The officer said he would normally call out animal control for s...

Re: Glad I was Carrying

Glad to hear it turned out to be a non-event. I know Hindsight is 20/20 but I would have called, if nothing else so they could send an officer by to make sure they weren't up to no-good, and to be the first to report - heard/read lots of horror stories about incidents like yours becoming an ordeal ...

Close call over the weekend...

Had a somewhat close call, had to draw my gun this weekend. One of my neighbors in the apartment complex has some very aggressive corgi mutts (they favor Corgis but a little bigger and uglier). It's a 'pack' of 3 of them. They constantly seem to get off leash or get out of their control. Several tim...

Re: Heckler & Koch Blackballs Israel

Germans and Jews... Long sorted history there - not exactly surprised they are taking that stance. I'm of dual minds on this - on one hand, its not like H&K stopped selling only to Israel or specifically called them out - they stopped selling to almost an entire region and a continent. On the ot...

Re: Recoil sensitive shotgun advice needed

I might suggest if she has not fired any type of longarms before, get her to shoot something like an AR15 or something first, get her use to good form and handling the gun properly before giving her the 'boom-stick' to shoot

Re: Car theft 101

I'm not a fan of those pushbutton start things on cars. They are way to easy to hack with an amplifier like in the OPs unfortunate case. The Faraday bag is a great way to overcome the issue, although that just negates not needing to "take out your key" to start the car. It's funny (and so...

Re: ER nurse illegally detained?

I keep hearing/seeing people say that it was just one bad officer (or 2 if you count his LT who basically ordered him to do so.) But I saw at least 2 or 3 other Cops in the ER - Not one of them attempted to stop him. They are just as culpable in my mind, and as I see it, what is wrong with the Polic...

Re: what knife are you carrying on friday?

I'll continue to carry my Esee 3... Btw does anyone here make or know anyone who makes leather knife sheaths? I would like to maybe have one made so I could scout carry it on my belt instead of the front pocket There is this company, but they are pretty pricey: https://www.hedgehogleatherworks.com/...

Re: Local recon needed -Houston

Oh and other than a few reports of looting - and some reports on Facebook of some of the Cajun Navy being fired on, I haven't heard of any issues. Of course, what part of South Houston you are going to will make a big difference for that as well.

Re: Local recon needed -Houston

What part of South Houston are you talking about? Inside or Outside the Loop (beltway 8)? If you have a more specific area you are heading - aka Friendswood or Pearland, might be helpful, as more specific info could be given on the conditions. As far as roadways - everything seems to be doing good o...
