It's a nice looking holster and your decision, as you will have to live with it, not me. Your needs are different from mine.

The belt slide attachment keeps the pistol close to your body. I like the positive retention afforded by the Automatic Locking system, not only for carrying openly, but keep the pistol in place while recovering my rockets over broken terrain.

A major consideration, for me, when choosing a holster is how easy is it to draw from using only one hand. I had the opportunity to use a loaner Safariland ALS holster while training at KR Training in April. I was surprised by how easy the pistol was to draw and how quickly I adjusted to the thumb release. Since you use your thumb to release the ALS, you are pushing against the whole holster. Thus, when drawing with one hand, with the holster off of the belt, the holster jumps off of the pistol.

I like to leave my pistol in its holster unless I am cleaning, training, or shooting. The Safariland ALS, especially with the QLS quick release, is near perfect for my needs. Your needs, of course, will vary.
