Sad to say ISIS is looking more credible here than the FBI and VPD are. The times we live in... The Enquirer is now more credible than the mainstream media.
No credible info yet. After all those planning you would expect to have a video of shooter explaining why he did his heinous act.
OK, I am going for the conspiracy theory:

He was set up by Soros funded thugs (the thugs did the actual shooting and left this guy with no priors as the patsy). The object of the mission was to drive the government into implementing an Australian type gun confiscation after which ISIS terror cells - already in the US as a result of Obama's wide open borders - proceed to massacre us all and establish the American caliphate.

Not bad, eh?
You as I, we are aware the momemt 2ndA is nullified and confiscation begins, the 2nd Revolution would start. However nice 2nd Revolution to protect and uphold the 2ndA. 2ndR2p2ndA, hey let us file a patent for that term. :biggrinjester:
You mean the 3rd American Revolution, right? We had the first one in the 1770's where the revolutionaries won. Then the second in the 1860's where the revolutionaries lost. So by my count, this would be the third.

At any rate, an active civil war / revolution would be an even better opportunity for ISIS to wreak havoc, IMHO. Not that I believe in conspiracies or anything. It's like the old saying "just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean that they are not out to get you."

A number of bullet holes in aviation fuel tanks at 2000 feet from shooter. I forgot how close all this is to the airport.

Had a gun safe. Mentioned a gun room. I think we are up to 43 guns now.

Reno neighbors said he was strange.

Had allergy problems. Wore gloves, girlfriend didn't wear makeup or perfume. Casino cleaned carpets for him with plain water.
The AvGas thing is silly to me. This guy was intelligent by all accounts and a pilot. He had to know that shooting an aviation tank had virtually no chance to cause an explosion or a fire.
^^^^^^^ Yes, I wish the 'media' would do just a LITTLE research on this and STOP sensationalizing the event beyond what it already was.

The tanks were a long way away. Most recent reports are that a single round managed to penetrate one of the tanks (but no photos presented to support that). The type fuel would be displayed on the outside of the tank (JET A) almost certainly. Which is basically kerosene.

It is 'combustible' not 'flammable', meaning it has a flash point of 100° F or greater (the point at which it can even produce vapors). In order for there to be a fire, there would also need to be a certain level of oxygen present. The auto-ignition point for JET A is 410° F, so absent a flame...something would need to generate and transfer heat equal to that figure for the fuel to actually burn (the vapor that is).

So all of this talk about an 'Explosion' and how lucky everyone was....is just so much hyperbole being spewed by ignorant media personnel.

The conditions for even a fire did not exist, let alone an explosion. To my knowledge...no incendiary rounds were fired, so it just wasn't going to happen. (tanks explode or catch fire).
But I saw a movie one time where the good guy shot a bunch of fuel tankers with a .380 and the bad guys were all killed in the explosion.......

Fixed that for you. I agree with your point, but if you exclude religious and ideological goals from your definition, every Muslim terrorist attack that's ever occurred no longer meets the definition of "terrorism." One could argue that Antifa and BLM wouldn't either.
Until we know this guy's motives, we can't really say whether he is a terrorist, or not. We can speculate and guess, but that is all.
Agreed and that is why I said "until that link is proven". My point was that it is misleading and incorrect to call any mass killing a terrorist event.
:iagree: and I would argue that it is misleading and incorrect to say that this mass killing is not a terrorist event. We simply don't know yet, so it is incorrect to say it was or it wasn't.

Who indeed? And this article says the receipt was for room service. You can see the date better in their picture.

Since he was staying in a suite it's common to bring settings for more than one, even if only one person is registered. Usually they ask, but not always. I wouldn't read too much into it until more info comes out.
It seems odd that he would want a waiter to enter his room the night of the shooting. Cuts down significantly on his available prep time, IMHO. Although this does explain the availability of a room service cart for him to use in positioning the hallway camera.
The date on the receipt was 9/27/2017.
Got it. I thought we were talking about the day of. Hadn't looked at the actual receipt.

scanned through and have a few questions. Not to irritate, just to clarify or get my head around how this dude felt to be this evil.

he was up on 32nd floor (320 to 400 feet up). that put him at what 1000 to 1500 yards from the people.
So you think he planned this long before the weds before he checked in? i bet at least 6 months ago, he was planning .

If i call the hotel and request room X on floor X, will it be honored? Most likely ??? i am not a first time guest. obviously research was done on which rooms or elevations provided the best vantage point.
easy to see what venues are in town any day of the week.

when i traveled every week for the Big G, i could ask a hotel for a particular room or floor with no problems. Especially if i was a frequent visitor.

its reported he stayed in this hotel OFTEN, he knew the lay out, he had money to buy as many weapons as he needed.
thank GOD he was not a better marksman or the death toll would be much higher.

getting rifles in is easy as walking. Golf bags and fishing gear containers are a very easy way to go. i have never had a hotel ask if firearms were in my gear. As part of my travel gear, along with my personal suitcases, I rolled a huge pelican case we affectionately named the body bag, as it was big enough for two carcasses. No one ever questioned it. except TSA, and the poor guy that had to load it in the plane. But this guy drove in.

72 minutes, barricaded doors, set up his own cameras...lots of work for one guy to do in 3.5 days... how much if any was pre-positioned? did he do a spy thing and hide items in a hole in a wall or ceiling? from a previous trip?
its easy to hide "things" in a room away from prying eyes of housekeepers, in a suite.
just saying he would have been busy busy busy for three days setting up.

so many questions for this event. I have trouble thinking it was a one man job to set up.
sure would like to see the hotel cameras footage..i bet its very revealing.
He wouldn't have even had to ask for a specific suite. There aren't too many corner suites in a hotel, and they usually have different types. Just book an X corner suite, with a strip view. And if necessary, specify that you don't want to be too low since the street noise bothers you. This guy was apparently a high roller, so it may have been a comped suite, and his host could easily have accommodated his "quirky" request for a suite that matched his "lucky" numbers, or whatever.

As far as timing, I realize the guy was 64, but absent a physical disability, it isn't that hard to carry a bunch of bags up to your room over the course of several days. I'm assuming he used furniture in the room to barricade the door and that tables and chairs formed the basis of his shooting platforms, possibly with a few sandbags or just bipods. It doesn't surprise me in the least that he was able to get everything set up in a matter of 3 days. I know nothing about setting up cameras, but I'll assume he did that last to minimize the chance of them being discovered.

Was this view mistaken?

Where would Waco fit in?
CNN's news ticker said it was the deadliest shooting "in modern US history". I was wondering about the distinction, but I think they may have been allowing for things like the Wounded Knee massacre.

Fired.

CBS fires vice president who said Vegas victims didn't deserve sympathy because country music fans 'often are Republican'
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS spokeswoman told Fox News.
Good to see CBS doing the right thing here. :clapping:

Wow. So that's where we are these days? Cheering when people who might support your "enemy" are gunned down. Lovely.
It's only coming from the left. Just like all the other hate speech we are seeing.

I hadn't considered that. When the CNN analyst said it was a fully automatic and maybe even belt-fed weapon, I laughed and immediately disregarded it as CNN being....well, CNN. But then I saw the video and I agreed - it did sound like a machine gun. I hadn't considered slide or bump fire. :headscratch
To me, it sounded like the rate of fire changed from fast to slower, then back to faster. Almost like hearing a Gatling gun. Slide or bump fire might make sense.

He lived in Nevada near Las Vegas.

No immediate obvious answers to why he did this.

Words cannot express the tragedy of this event and the utter senselessness of this horror.
Right. So its not like he carried all that up in his backpack in one trip just before it started. How did the hotel miss this? Somebody either screwed up big time or was bought off. This is bigger than this one guy.
He could have easily made several trips to the room with the guns in a covered golf bag which is a very common item of luggage for Vegas, and wouldn't have been out of the ordinary. The mags and ammo would have fit in standard suitcases.

I'm curious as to what weapon(s) he was using. Definitely sounds like automatic fire. They are saying the distance was 1,700 feet, so almost 600 yards. And it sounded to me like it was more than 30 rounds between reloads.
