Re: Corrected Vision Shooting

For me, my bifocals, are a detriment when shooting long guns, with anything other than iron sights. Even my red dot, has two dots if I look through it with bifocals. A scope is an excercise in futility. There are two reticles, and any other markings are a jumble of dashes, almost like a kaleidoscope...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

IANAL but, in my limited experience, as long as the long gun is legal in the purchaser's state, the sale can be made. The restriction is only on handguns, or long guns prohibited in the state of residence. This lawsuit has no basis, as far as I can tell. I do know that Colorado banned high capacity ...

Re: Corrected Vision Shooting

why would you not be grabbing your glasses? I would think if there was time to grab a firearm then there should also be time to grab glasses to see what or who you are shooting at. My glasses are right next to me on my bedside table, my gun is in the drawer right below my glasses. Have you practice...

Corrected Vision Shooting

Another thread, regarding shooting without hearing protection, got me to thinking about those of us who have to wear either eyeglasses, or contact lenses ( I wear bifocals) , ever practice shooting, without without them? Fortunately for me, my vision is not to the point that I can't shoot without my...

Re: Fed to seize guns from people who failed background checks

Unless they can prove that the buyer KNEW he was ineligible, the system might have failed, but he committed no crime that I’m aware of. The upshot is that, in my opinion, you can’t just seize something without compensation, when that thing was purchased in good faith. If gov’t is going to seize a g...

Re: Fed to seize guns from people who failed background checks

This is really nothing new but it is getting a lot of attention. Let me explain, customer comes in to purchase a firearm and fills out the 4473. The NICS background check is run and comes back as delay. There is a 3 business day waiting period (which is actually 5 days since the first and last day ...

Re: Former Texas official arrested in probe of prosecutors' slay

Follow-up: Eric Williams was convicted of capital murder(s) and sentenced to death on 17 Dec 2014. The article below about his wife says that same year his law license, previously suspended, was revoked. However the TDCJ info on him says highest grade level completed is "GED." ?? https://...

Re: Now this is the reason why I carry

alittlejoy1960, Welcome to the forum, :tiphat: and I can honestly say that your first post should probably be a sticky thread. With my new profession, I am constantly coming in contact with female gun owners, and first time gun buyers, and I always tell them to think about what they carry in their p...

Re: Honolulu PD begins confiscation of registered guns...

I am not stepping in to the issue of medical/recreational/legal/ illegal marijuana usage. The point that has been overlooked, in my opinion, is that this is just one of many avenues, that can be used by government, to deprive someone of their 2A rights, by instituting a gun registry system. Using th...

Re: Allegations of Inappropriate Conduct? Schadenfreude at work?

I think what is happening now, is more of a case of, " Hey, I had something like that, happen to me too, and, I don't want to be left out of the popular activity, of reporting anything, that I feel was inappropriate" While I am sympathetic to anyone, male or female, who is/was a victim of ...

Re: You favorite rife ? Shotgun ?

My favorite shotgun is my Mossberg 500. It has both an 18.5" barrel and a 28" vent rib dual bead barrel, it serves as home/ truck defense gun, and hunting shotgun. My favorite rifle is a little harder to pick. For longer range shooting is my Ruger American .308 with stainless barrel and a ...

Re: White Males who fear Poverty are gun nuts

I'm curious to know exactly what questions were asked. Polls have been proven time and again to achieve the desired, pre-determined, agenda driven, results, based solely on how the questions were framed. Example: Which do you fear most? a) Vampires b) Poverty c) Jock itch d) Forgetting your iPhone p...
