I hate to throw cold water on the party, but due to my recent employment situation, myself and Jusme Jr., will have to pass. I let Phil know and he has graciously offered to return my deposit. That should leave three spots available for anybody still wanting to sign up.Bitter Clinger wrote:If you had been thinking about going and still would like to attend, Phil informs me that there is at least one spot still available.Bitter Clinger wrote:Only one week away! Getting psyched! We have 11 forum members signed up, should be an awesome day on the pistol range!

Re: DFW West/SW Quadrant Tactical Handgun Training
Only two spots left, emailed Phil, and he agreed to allow Jusme Jr. in the class. Looking forward to my son getting some top notch training.
That is, unless he starts getting better scores than me, then I may have to disqualify him for trying to make me look bad!!
Really looking forward to the class.

I am hoping this will become at least a quarterly thing, with only 12 spots available, and the number of people who have other commitments on the date set, if you miss this one, I'm sure there will be plenty of forum members available to fill another class. I plan to be there, but, I keep a very limited social calander anyway(no that's not a fancy way of saying I have no life) so as Bitter Clinger said contact the instructor, and see what his thoughts are, we may be such awesome shooters, that we won't require any instruction after lunch anyway.

He can always join the forum. It's free, and then it wouldn't be an issue. JMHOSA-TX wrote:He is a long-time CHL-holder but unsure if he is a member of the Forum. Sounds like we are in good shape so an additional person isn't necessary. I never mentioned it to him as it was always just a contingency plan.Bitter Clinger wrote:TexasJohnBoy wrote:Yeah, I'd be interested to know the count. Thanks!I emailed Phil. He said that we have enough students signed up that the class is definitely a "go" and that there is still room for additional sign-ups. The class is roughly 1/2 full as I had speculated based on comments in this thread and some PM's that I have rec'd.SA-TX wrote:I have a non-TCHL buddy who might be interested. If we Don't look.like we'll have enough folks, let me know and I'll extend the invitation assuming no objection.

Regarding the non-TCHL question here are my thoughts, please understand these are my thoughts only as I did not discuss with anyone else:
The smaller the class the faster it will move and given that everyone so far is at least a TX CHL holder and a member of this forum, there has been some cursory screening / vetting. There is a "Handgun 1" class the week before that is open to the public as well - https://txconcealedcarry.com/event/level-i-handgun/
I guess that I would leave the question open and see what other folks think...

Bitter Clinger wrote:I don't disagree, but I also find that I always benefit from reviewing basic fundamentals, such as 4 step draw.Beiruty wrote:I prefer advanced pistol courses or at least Level-2.
Depending on the overall experience and safety awareness of this first class, we stand the possibility to advance quickly, or not.
Either way, it will be a fun learning experience!
I look forward to it, though I have my own " training " regimen, I haven't had actual formal training in several years. I don't mind being embarrassed by my inability to adapt to whatever course is presented, because I feel I can always learn something new. Plus it will be with other forum members, who will be kind, and not post my scores, as to not ruin my self imposed reputation! I hope!!!!
