Re: Carrying an empty holster

I do that in Costco ever since they gave me oral notice. I don't know why, I guess I feel like I'm making a statement or something. I'm sure no one's noticed, but I do it almost spitefully. Like, "Hey LOOK everybody, I DISARMED like you WANTED ME TO. DOES THIS MAKE YOU HAPPY??" :grumble

Wait, that's not what those fans are for? I always thought they were for removing the added heat and moisture from showering, though I do also use them when I sit on the porcelain throne...

Re: The Dangers of Shooting On Concrete

That story has a whole lot of heartbreak in it. That family and those officers will be forever changed. From the article it doesn't sound like the officers did anything wrong, but it drives home the fact that we have to pay attention to what is behind our target. Hope I am never in that situation.

Re: Ever Discovered Many Old Friends Are Dead?

Someone I served with made the news last year after cops killed him. He was apparently brandishing a machete and shouting religious nonsense at a college campus. He was not psycho OR religious when I knew him, and the more I read about it the more it sounds like a mental breakdown and/or suicide-by-...

Re: Size VS Capacity

Why choose? I can carry 13+1 in my Springfield XD .45. Not really concealable, but since OC passed that's not really much of an issue.

Re: Did we get shut out this year

Unfortunately it is a fact that there are more liberty, freedom and pro-2A states than Texas. The state's quest to attract businesses to relocate from deep blue states has been successful- the resulting shift to blue state shouldn't be a surprise to those in charge. You also should consider the lef...

Re: CC in sweats/jogger shorts

I'm not familiar with the area, but from what google is showing me it looks like that 30.07 is invalid. It's a city-owned park (unless I'm reading it wrong). They are not allowed to post. As far as CC while jogging, I've had this thought many times and never had a satisfactory answer. Sweat pants ar...

Humble Software Bundle

Humble Bundle is a website that gathers the licenses to computer games (usually indie games) and sells them as a huge bundle where you pay what you want and the proceeds go to a selected charity. Right now they're offering a bundle of PC software - antivirus software, an advanced defrag program, Win...

Re: The SERPA Stinks, And That’s Just All There Is To Say About It

I think the safety concerns of the SERPA will vary a lot depending on the particular gun being used. A 1911 with its SA trigger seems and grip seem to more naturally guide a shooters trigger finger to the trigger area. The wrist stop area tends to be lower in relation to the trigger area. Also the ...

Re: The SERPA Stinks, And That’s Just All There Is To Say About It

My wife and I both OC in SERPA holsters. As long as your trigger discipline is where it needs to be, there's no added chance that you'll have an ND. With my pistol, pressing the release button on the holster places my finger straight and off the trigger as I draw the weapon - right where it should be.

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?

Someone else's photo, but this is what I carry. One mag of Hornady Critical Defense rds (185 gr.) plus a backup mag of Winchester target loads (230 gr.). That's 26 rounds of "you ain't gonna win this one." With the target loads I can hit a stationary jackrabbit (ONE HANDED) from 40 yards. ...

Re: How would an 06/07 violation actually happen?

I mention this because I don't think that some (many?) store owners understand the laws that well either. There have been enough stories reported here about confrontations that occur in unposted stores where the employee points to the TABC signs as a ban on firearms. I think that would be especiall...
