Re: Do You Think A 30.06 Sign Welcomes OC?

Someone who wants to see your gun will not post 30.06; they will post one of those fun little signs along the lines of "we welcome licensed carry, show it off if you got it!" If they do not allow concealed, a sensible person will assume they do not allow open.

SB 1106

I was browsing the current bills on the table last night and I came across this one and found myself confused. SB 1106 , written by Bettencourt (R),has the caption: " Relating to the issuance of a citation for criminal trespass punishable as a Class B misdemeanor. " Doing a little digging,...

Utility Company Takes First Step on Gun Confiscation

I got my electric bill in my email today and was shocked to see what it said. They are demanding as payment that I send them one 1911 . They can take it from my cold, dead hands! http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/imkopaka/1911lol.jpg :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester: :biggrinjeste...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

Response from Tom Craddick: Dear [name], Thank you for your recent letter in support of House Bill 560. It is always nice hearing from constituents. I believe input from citizens is important to forming good public policy. House Bill 560, filed by Representative Drew Springer, proposes to modify gun...

Re: Visiting Texas Tech. Any Gotchas?

They wasted their money posting 30.07. Open carry on any school campus is statutorily prohibited. I would be happy for them to vigorously prosecute anyone who did, including a licensee who is supposed to know better. I've been to the campus once or twice. It's not always obvious when you are steppi...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

So, for us noobs. Around when will we be hearing if this thing as any steam? Feb, march, april, during Trumps first term or second? :waiting: 85th Texas legislative session commenced on Jan 10th and has a maximum length of 140 days. We will know for sure what will happen (if anything) with this bil...

Re: Have you ever seen...

On a striker fired weapon, I can't possibly imagine that happening. The mechanics of the weapon simply don't allow it to move that way. No matter what piece broke (unless it was the striker itself breaking at the joint between the front and rear), it would not allow the primer to be struck. On a ham...

Re: Open carry idiots almost win Darwin award

Unbelievable stupidity. Just because something is lawful doesn't mean it's smart. To quote a fictional character, "the law is not intended to outline every possible infraction one may commit, however the spirit of the law is clear: blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of others will ...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

I wrote Tom Craddick today and said: Mr. Craddick, I would like to encourage you to support Texas House Bill 560 (Springer). This is being hailed as the most important self-defense bill in 10 years, and would greatly expand the carry authority of individuals licensed to carry a handgun in the State ...

Wow. The DPS status website says that all requirements (including background check) are good. Now it says "Print Pending." Shouldn't be long now!

Re: Started the process for my wife

Finally got everything in. Now we wait. Of course, at this point one has to wonder if this whole process will be for nothing, given what's on the table for the legislative session. It's likely that our fees will have been lower if we waited, and remotely possible that she will not need to be license...

Re: US Census American Community Survey

The last time someone was prosecuted for failing to complete anything from the Census Bureau was in 1970, when a man was charged for filling out some answers but not others on the actual , constitutionally mandated census, and still refused to finish it when the court gave him an opportunity to do s...
