Re: The SERPA Stinks, And That’s Just All There Is To Say About It

I think the safety concerns of the SERPA will vary a lot depending on the particular gun being used. A 1911 with its SA trigger seems and grip seem to more naturally guide a shooters trigger finger to the trigger area. The wrist stop area tends to be lower in relation to the trigger area. Also the ...

Re: The SERPA Stinks, And That’s Just All There Is To Say About It

My wife and I both OC in SERPA holsters. As long as your trigger discipline is where it needs to be, there's no added chance that you'll have an ND. With my pistol, pressing the release button on the holster places my finger straight and off the trigger as I draw the weapon - right where it should be.

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?

Someone else's photo, but this is what I carry. One mag of Hornady Critical Defense rds (185 gr.) plus a backup mag of Winchester target loads (230 gr.). That's 26 rounds of "you ain't gonna win this one." With the target loads I can hit a stationary jackrabbit (ONE HANDED) from 40 yards. ...

Re: How would an 06/07 violation actually happen?

I mention this because I don't think that some (many?) store owners understand the laws that well either. There have been enough stories reported here about confrontations that occur in unposted stores where the employee points to the TABC signs as a ban on firearms. I think that would be especiall...

Re: Do You Think A 30.06 Sign Welcomes OC?

Someone who wants to see your gun will not post 30.06; they will post one of those fun little signs along the lines of "we welcome licensed carry, show it off if you got it!" If they do not allow concealed, a sensible person will assume they do not allow open.

SB 1106

I was browsing the current bills on the table last night and I came across this one and found myself confused. SB 1106 , written by Bettencourt (R),has the caption: " Relating to the issuance of a citation for criminal trespass punishable as a Class B misdemeanor. " Doing a little digging,...

Utility Company Takes First Step on Gun Confiscation

I got my electric bill in my email today and was shocked to see what it said. They are demanding as payment that I send them one 1911 . They can take it from my cold, dead hands! http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/imkopaka/1911lol.jpg :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester: :biggrinjester: :biggrinjeste...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

Response from Tom Craddick: Dear [name], Thank you for your recent letter in support of House Bill 560. It is always nice hearing from constituents. I believe input from citizens is important to forming good public policy. House Bill 560, filed by Representative Drew Springer, proposes to modify gun...

Re: Visiting Texas Tech. Any Gotchas?

They wasted their money posting 30.07. Open carry on any school campus is statutorily prohibited. I would be happy for them to vigorously prosecute anyone who did, including a licensee who is supposed to know better. I've been to the campus once or twice. It's not always obvious when you are steppi...

Re: Have you ever seen...

On a striker fired weapon, I can't possibly imagine that happening. The mechanics of the weapon simply don't allow it to move that way. No matter what piece broke (unless it was the striker itself breaking at the joint between the front and rear), it would not allow the primer to be struck. On a ham...

Re: Open carry idiots almost win Darwin award

Unbelievable stupidity. Just because something is lawful doesn't mean it's smart. To quote a fictional character, "the law is not intended to outline every possible infraction one may commit, however the spirit of the law is clear: blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of others will ...
