Re: US Census American Community Survey

The last time someone was prosecuted for failing to complete anything from the Census Bureau was in 1970, when a man was charged for filling out some answers but not others on the actual , constitutionally mandated census, and still refused to finish it when the court gave him an opportunity to do s...

Re: US Census American Community Survey

You can't use deadly force to terminate a criminal trespass. You can use force in certain circumstances, but you'd better be able to justify why you didn't just wait for police (could invite a civil suit, too). Now, one step across the threshold without my permission and it's another story... For th...

Re: US Census American Community Survey

Not to revive a dead thread, but I got my notice in the mail a few weeks ago. After doing some research, I have elected not to do the survey. The survey itself is invasive and unconstitutional, and a Supreme Court ruling from the 1890's (which has not been overturned) specifically forbids this sort ...

SB 202 thoughts

What does everyone think of SB 202 ? I know a Dem wrote it, but on the surface (it leaves a lot of specifics blank) I like the concept. Teach kids how they are supposed to act around police and maybe we won't have as many punk kids acting disrespectfully (at best). Doesn't have any impact on me, as ...

Re: Shooting across the street from me

That's crazy. Right about 8 o'clock that night I was sitting in University Medical Center in Lubbock and a guy came in on the life-flight with a gunshot wound or two and immediately went into a trauma room. Too far away to be the same guy, but weird coincidence.

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

If I understood the text correctly (I'm assuming I didn't and will wait for legal advice before acting if this bill passes) this basically lets us carry everywhere an LEO can with a few minor (and totally reasonable) exceptions. WOW. Color me excited. :woohoo

Re: legal carry knife?

To echo what others have said, a knife is not the best defense option if for no other reason than you have to touch your attacker to hurt them. My wife is in the same boat as you (waiting for plastic) so when she runs I have her carry two things: a Sabre Red pepper spray (same concentration I use in...

Re: WA: This doesn't sound kosher...

I understand that, but the issue is with tax dollars spent purchasing said data... :rules: Right there. Tax dollars spent without taxpayer knowledge or consent, leading to violations of privacy (whether the fine print said it or not) to harass citizens without actual concrete data. Plus, once they'...

Re: Wal-Mart employee refused LTC as ID?

Well I did ask if it was even a battle worth fighting. I suppose I am just a bit of an idealist, and it agitates me that I follow the law so meticulously for fear of "taking a ride" but others can get away with disregarding it. :???: Also I was "lazy concealed" with my open butto...

Out-of-state purchase question

Forgive me if this has been asked before (the search is excluding so many words that I can't find anything). My mom is visiting from Washington for a few weeks and she really liked the way my wife's M&P Shield felt. She has her CCW in Washington and is perfectly able to pass a background check (...

Re: WA: This doesn't sound kosher...

I used to live in King County. My family still does. I'm not pleased. You'll note the article said the county was PAYING the company that manages the data. They are spending taxpayer dollars to spy on the taxpayers. How absolutely bereft of morals.
