Without (I hope) sounding argumentative nothing is free.

Example: 3 bars of soap for $1.00 - The fourth one is free.

No, what you have is 4 bars of soap for .25 cents each.

This approach to sales is called marketing.

Still think the 4th bar is free?

Try telling the merchant you only want the one free bar without paying for the other 3...

Now, the guns on offer is probably a good deal, but aint nothing free...

I'm not being a semanticist, it's just a pet peeve of mine when I read 'buy this and get that free'...nuh-uh it aint free...

Just for the heck of it, I tried to get the one free thing at HEB one time and the grocer looked at me as I was a mad man. I argued, you said the fourth one was free, so I counted 1,2,3, and here my good man is the 4th one. I want that one without cost, i.e., free... He just laughed at me, and me right back at him...
