Yes. Start a new app. The training is good for two years, and fingerprinting/application/etc is good for one. Start a new app and send it all in together.

Lol, nice. Our process was similarly quick and smooth. Considering other (less free) states have 90 day minimum wait times or outright wont issue permits, you gotta love Texas' system- Even if there are a few bumps.

While that sucks, don't be discouraged. You've called them and fixed it. Most people are getting theirs in 2-4 weeks so as long as they now have everything, it shouldn't be too bad.

What else was there for your to send them?... I though out of state apps were all the same regarding documentation?

Re: "Waiting Room"

ManImCool wrote: Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:49 pm Still waiting. Sigh. I have a horrible feeling I'm going to have to wait close to the 60 day limit. I'm from California, couple speeding tickets, and a misdemeanor from nine years ago. It's nothing that will disqualify me. I've been purchasing firearms in California with their checks and waiting periods just fine. In fact, it was dismissed and expunged a few years ago. Still, that's probably why I have to wait 2 months. SIGH someone reassure me
FYI, it may not be Texas' fault. They generally contact law enforcement in each county you have lived in to double check records. If the local PD or sheriff is very strongly anti-2A and writes into the policy that those take the back seat, they may not respond for quite a while. It has been known to happen in Texas, so seeing it happen in Cali is quite possible.

Congrats on escaping. Please don't come here and vote blue.... :tiphat:

If you (fwant) were switched to all green over 2 or 3 weeks ago, you need to call DPS. It is very possible that it was delivered to the wrong address or something. Person on the phone was wrong, Texas has 60 days by law. Considering you posted about being 'all green' about a month ago, I would say it was a mailing thing.
agreed it might have got lost in the mail. good ol USPS...
Lost in the mail????? It was only 2 1/2 weeks ago that you did your fingerprints. The only thing that is lost is your patience, chill, they even ask that you wait 5 weeks before you call and ask where. BTW, if they notify you that they need something else, you have 90 days to respond if they do not hear from you within 90days, your file is closed. The application process has to start from the beginning, including a new payment for the new file.
Uhhh what?

I was responding to fwant, who posted this:
fwant wrote:Maybe they're doing them in batches since troy and u2f's prints and background were completed then print pending and mailed the same day..??

Btw..

2/5/18 - submitted app
2/6/18 - fingerprinted
2/11/18 - took class and submitted ltc-100
2/12/18 - received email from DPS
2/15/18 - showing green prints and background under review..

I'll update once I get a status change...
If they had BG OK'd by 2/19, then yes, they should call. Not Grundy1133.

Do we have a list of hard counties? LOL Harris County is a big county, but is Harris County one of those hard counties?
I doubt it.

We would need a survey with enough data to analyze whose took the longest, and only viewing those individuals which counties in their living and working history overlap. A ton of people move quite a bit, any level of convictions, even in the past, could potentially skew this data, and you would need enough respondents to regularly isolate the 'problem' counties.

Someone within DPS who handles the BG Checks could probably do it off the back of their hand, as they see enough data on a regular basis to 'know'... But it would be basically impossible for us.

The main thing is that the DPS cannot take more than 60 days. Doing so regularly would lead to complaints to representatives and investigation. I would consider the 60-day rule a gift (if you are not of the constitutional carry bloodline) and move on.

3 Business days, 7 Full days from all items received to pass BG Check
5 Business days, 7 Full days from bg check ok'd to plastic in hand.

From reading this thread, probably one of the faster turns from the office. Just documenting so future newbs know what to expect as a general best-case-scenario.

Time to full approval (but not printed) after everything was submitted, 7 days... Not bad. :)
