Re: Where to run a Pre Application Check

I can see at least one legitimate reason for doing a check like this. Government agencies are not always the best at posting correct records, documents, etc. For example, I have known of people who have received deferred adjudication for a crime, successfully fulfilled their probation, and thought t...

School Safety Officer Training

OK, here is the pertinent part of the Government Code for training in school safety officer stuff: "Government Code 411.1901 on 5/19/2015 (c) A qualified handgun instructor certified in school safety under this section may provide school safety training, including instruction in the subjects li...

Re: Other state LEO carrying at Texas school

LEO's better not try doing that in some states. I know some cops who have gone to New York, even on official business, and have been told that if they aren't NY cops, they better not get caught with guns.

Re: Compilation of disqualifications in shooting sports

I have never shot competitively (unless you call shooting at guys who are shooting at you competition).
While some of those were pretty obvious, I have to admit that I am trying to figure out what the DQ was for in a few of them. Maybe bad camera angle or whatever.

Re: Anti Asset Forfeiture bill?

Not only that, but they should also have to prove that the property seized was actually used in the crime. If I buy a house with my legally earned money, and later get convicted of selling marijuana, my house can be seized since I lived there, parked my car there that presumably once had marijuana i...

Just wanted to call your attention to that one! When I saw .22 or above, I figured there was a change I never heard of, or the .22 was intended to be.32.

Re: Anti Asset Forfeiture bill?

I am totally in favor of making it difficult for the government to take private property from people except under the most extraordinary circumstances.

Re: Interesting Legal Issue

Yep, believe it or not, Texas was a "retreat" state until about ten years ago. Didn't have to retreat inside of your home, but anywhere else it was a requirement if you could safely do so.

Re: Del Mar College campus carry input

It would seem that banning carry in campus shuttle vehicles would not be allowed by statute. A school cannot pass rules that generally restrict carrying on campus. If you ride the shuttle to school and can't carry your gun, then you are effectively prevented from carrying anywhere on campus.

Interesting Legal Issue

Generally, in order to claim self defense, one must be in a place where he has a legal right to be. For example, the bad guy who broke into your house can't shoot back when you shoot at him and claim self defense. He is a trespasser, so he loses that defense. Obviously, if you illegally carry past a...
