Re: Fix 30.06 & 30.07 Sign Requirements

:headscratch We're not talking about driving ATV's or hunting on private property, because 30.06/7 signs are irrelevant to that. Why do you think that concealed carriers should not be able to carry CONCEALED, past a "sign", on property otherwise open to the public? Most retail businesses ...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

Just to bump this topic. Went to the Denton County Precinct 3 Building today and I carried concealed past the 30.06 sign. I'm still shaking from the thought of possibly "taking the ride". I pocket carried a .380 auto and the Constable on duty didn't notice... whew!!! :evil2:

Re: Fix 30.06 & 30.07 Sign Requirements

I have a novel idea. How about property owner's retain 100% of their rights to ask you to leave, but that the TX government quits providing a sign that makes it an automatic crime. I disagree. My property is posted No Trespassing. I shouldn't have to chase down trespassers to give them oral notice....

Re: Fix 30.06 & 30.07 Sign Requirements

This is of course the question. I don't have the answer but in my mind I believe the right to self defense far outweighs a property owners right to decide who can or can not enter private property. After all, we live by the term Life, Liberty and Pursuit of happiness. If you can not protect your li...

Re: Fix 30.06 & 30.07 Sign Requirements

The problem with this argument, is that you are/were not compelled by law to enter the private property in question. Even if it a condition of employment, the argument could be made, that you could get another job. Therefore you always have the option of walking away. Even agent's of the state are ...

Re: Convince me that constitutional carry is a good thing

Any 18 year old can walk into a sporting goods store and buy an AR15 and ammunition with no training requirement whatsoever. They can then carry it on or about their person throughout Texas without a license. This has been the case with long guns since at least 1836, so what's so special about carr...

Re: Penal Code-Deadly Force on 06/07 Property

I'm not getting the logic as it applies to the penal code...or aviation for that matter. If you meet conditions A, B, C, you definitely have no duty to do D (retreat)... You may have a duty to do D if you don't meet the conditions... But that must be specified somewhere in statute, common law (where...

Re: Penal Code-Deadly Force on 06/07 Property

... I just watched a 2 hour NOVA or some show that was precisely on the history of the doctrine concerning retreat. Yes. There has been a centuries old doctrine concerning this. We can all read the words of the statute. One must not be trespassing, not be provoking, and not engaged in criminality I...

Re: Green/Red chamber

I carry a revolver with hammer down on an empty chamber and the next chamber empty as well. So my first trigger pull readies the gun and the second, fires a shot. Sometimes the click on an empty chamber is all it takes to scare away the perp. Kind of like racking the slide on an auto.

Re: Mossberg Shockwave

This is a very good question. I have one on reserve order with Bud's right now. If I ever actually get it, I was thinking of using it mostly as a car gun, but if it's not a "handgun" within the definition of 30.06, I just might need to find a small pack to carry it in. If you didn't do NF...

Re: Penal Code-Deadly Force on 06/07 Property

This doesn't answer the question, but a couple of points: 1. Carrying past an 06 sign isn't "trespassing." It's "carrying past an 06 sign." 2. No prepaid legal service on the planet will assist you if you use your firearm while carrying illegally. You would be totally on your ow...

Re: Class A or Class C ?

A hospital is not, I repeat IS NOT, off limits automatically. Read paragraph 46.035(i). Such a hospital requires 30.07 or 30.07 notification to prohibit LTC carry. And that means compliant notification, not gun-buster signs. The exception would be if the hospital is a medical school hospital (I pre...
