"become[ing] a reserve LEO" is also beyond the ability of those of us who are either too old to be accepted, or too infirm to become a reserve LEO. Frankly, it was an idiotic and thoughtless response.... but some people speak without giving much thought to the effect of their words. Personally, I'm done discussing it with him. If he really wants to be a THAT guy, he's not going to listen to reason.
I assure you all that becoming a Texas LEO (reserve or otherwise) is significantly more difficult than getting a Texas LTC or carrying a folded concealed rifle. For my part, in the event of 30.06 sign I would consider carrying a concealed sub-machinegun , which is not a handgun under Texas law. I am quite accurate in semi using a select fire MAC10/9 with a barrel extension or silencer, and it is quite concealable, though very heavy. :biggrinjester:

The sign would have to have the 30.06 language to ban handguns AND language indicating that entry was forbidden to persons carrying firearms, for 30.05 to potentially apply (to long guns)
So wouldn't the "No Firearms" sign (not a handgun with a slash) cover the rifle part.
Assuming that all concerned consider a sign that says "no firearms" means that your entry to the property is forbidden....if you are carrying a firearm other than a handgun. To me it's not that clear, especially if it's on a 30.06 along with the required verbiage.

I forgot who the prosecutor was who claimed he could get a grand jury to indict a "ham sandwich". Maybe it was a Manhattan DA... :smilelol5:

Or maybe because the 30.06 is a class C misdemeanor (with a few exceptions) most "rides" will therefore not happen. Or maybe you'll take the "ride" for attempted murder for NOT violating 30.06 by carrying a concealed rifle, because the LEO is having a bad day...Then the DA will get a grand jury to indict you "because you are a ham sandwich", then you'll have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on bail, lawyers, trial costs, and missed work...And you still might get convicted...

I mean remember, the legislature has not granted you the right to carry a long gun by establishing a LTCR...never mind that there is no law against it, you can only do what you are specifically "allowed", right...?
