Re: TX: Deadly force in defense of 3rd party against unarmed assailant

Perhaps being shot will serve as a wake-up call. Perhaps not.

Re: Homeless Man Gives Woman His Last $20

I read about that last week. For those that didn't read the article, the woman and her husband set up a GoFundMe account that has raised nearly $400,000 to repay the man, and help him get back on his feet.

Re: How long to wait?

I left my initial instructor class with my certificate in my hands. You should be able to teach upon completion of the class.

If you want to have a serious, intelligent conversation/debate, we can do that, but this ban the finger stuff is just ridiculous talk. The point that they are trying to make is that it is possible for achieve a very high cyclical rate with just your finger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3gf_5MR4...

People can be pretty horrible to each other in the best of times and in the worst of times. It's really great to see articles like this showing the better side of human nature.

Re: Instructor recert comment

They said that it was a possibility, especially if there were tips about instructors cutting corners. As many times as we've had posts about poor instructors over the years, I think it's a good idea... and I wish the undercover person would tell the instructor after class... so that word gets out t...

Re: First time as a civilian drawing my weapon preparing to engage

There have been times that I've stopped to render assistance to somebody on the side of the road, and there are times I've just driven on. There have been plenty of cases where a 'break down' has been used to facilitate a carjacking. I will typically assess the situation as I drive up. Is the person...

Re: Instructor recert comment

Monday a.m. class, this was mentioned (and has been discussed here on other occasions). They said that it was a possibility, especially if there were tips about instructors cutting corners. They don't have the manpower to put an undercover person in every class, so they aren't going to try.

Re: Instructor recertification class

I too was in the first class on 8-14-2017. LET ME STATE CATEGORICALLY THAT I TRULY APPRECIATE EVERYONE AT DPS! I HOLD THEM IN THE HIGHEST REGARD, SO MUCH SO THAT I HESITATED TO COMMENT ON THIS THREAD. :tiphat: If I had shown up for one of my LTC classes as unprepared as the onsite DPS team was, I w...

Re: Instructor recertification class

Do yell at me too loudly, but is carry allowed in class? Location is not posted. Carry away. Trooper Pittman said something about the number of guns in class. There was nothing really touched on in the morning session that we haven't covered here (just another indication of how valuable this resour...

Re: Good ammo in .308 for deer hunting

I have had good luck with 168 or 175 gr. bullets from various makers, but I'm rarely shooting deer beyond 75 yards. A lot will probably depend on what your rifle likes. Mine (Rem 700 AAC-SD) likes heavier bullets. The Ruger American has the same 1:10 twist as my Remington, so you might start out wit...

If you want to find a Field Day site, here is the ARRL Field Day station locator. Not all sites are registered, but you might find one in your neck of the woods.
