Re: The future of gun rights

For those concerned about the future of gun rights, keep in mind that early voting runs until March 2.

Re: LEO training - school shootings

I agree 100% with srothstein. Most cops (90%) are not gun people, and complain when they have to shoot the whopping 50 rounds a year TCOLE requires to maintain a peace officer license. A lot of active shooter courses are offered as continuing education, but very few officers take advantage of them. ...

Re: A critical review of so-called "Simple Sights"

IME the simpler the sights the better. I prefer all black sights. I do realize the advantage of tritium dots in low light conditions, but IME the advantage is negated with the increased use of firearm mounted lights and people carrying small but high lumen flashlights and employing sound flashlight ...

Re: Ruger announces pro shooting team

It would be awesome if Ruger would finally make a semiautomatic shotgun that was super reliable and did not cost as much as 3 or 4 pump shotguns.

Maybe that will happen if their shooting team does 3-Gun.

Re: What's Your Preferred Grain in 9mm for range and s.d.?

124 Grain +P for Defense, Ranger/Gold Dot/HST, whichever is the most accurate in a particular gun.

Whatever is cheapest (I get several of the cheap variations and see which one is the most accurate) for practice, usually some form of plated 115 Grain FMJ.

Re: Thought to Ponder with a Few Idle Minutes

IME it takes a well tuned bolt action rifle to out shoot an AR. In 1991 I bought my first AR, a Colt Blue Label R6601 Match HBAR. With Black Hills 52 Grain BTHP Ammunition it would shoot 1 inch or better 3 shot groups with open sights off the bench at 100 yards. IME it takes a match conditioned bolt...

Re: .45 Auto Failure to Stop with Head Shot

No that is impossible...everybody shot with a .45 erupts like a volcano regardless of where they are hit :mad5 There have been multiple cases of bullets ricocheting off of foreheads, cheekbones, even teeth, especially with round nose lead or FMJ ammunition. One guy back in the day tried to commit su...

Re: Questions About LEO's Asking For ID's When I'm Simply Passenger

So the only time you can have a witness to a criminal offense is on a traffic stop?

38.02(b)(3) does not differentiate between a traffic stop and a "house stop".

Re: Questions About LEO's Asking For ID's When I'm Simply Passenger

Texas Penal Code: Sec. 38.02. FAILURE TO IDENTIFY. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally refuses to give his name, residence address, or date of birth to a peace officer who has lawfully arrested the person and requested the information. (b) A person commits an offense if he intentiona...
