Re: Started a new AR Project.

...when it came to the windage, I had a senior moment that lasted about 90 minutes.....and I couldn’t for the life of me remember whether to turn the rear sight left or right, if I wanted to shift the point of impact to the left. It was the oddest thing, and the adjustments didn’t seem to do what I...

Re: Started a new AR Project.

You will like how soft a rifle configured ar will shoot. Not that the carbines have a lot of recoil but the rifles are noticeably softer. Get ready to hear the twang of the buffer spring. That is what a JP Rifles centerless ground and polished buffer spring is for. Nearly silent and no twang. Using...

Re: Besides Midway U.S.A. and Brownells - Who Else?

Sells a wide variety of guns accessories? Yes, Mid and Brown are quality suppliers and have the goodies I want, but there must be other suppliers out there who sell the same stuff and are trustworthy. Problem is my brain is fresh out of who they might be... If you know, please sound off. Thanks! Do...

Re: Charter Arms Explorer II, .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with 10 shot magazine

I picked it up after church, and got some pictures of it tonight. My friend included a strange left handed leather holster made by a G.A. Foli......which is ok, 'cause I'm a lefty. http://www.annoyedman.com/images/miscellaneous/CharterArmsSurvivalGun/charterarms-01.png http://www.annoyedman.com/imag...

Charter Arms Explorer II, .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with 10 shot magazine

So I'm buying a Charter Arms Explorer II from a friend of mine this afternoon. It was marketed as a sort of "survival pistol", and it is basically the pistol version of the AR7 survival rifle. He's asking $150 for it, with two barrels - an 8" and a 10". Here's what it looks like:...

Re: What would you reach for, handgun or shotgun?

There are several threads on this topic. If you were thinking of one in particular, it may have been this one. http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=52012&hilit=shotgun+rifle+handgun+best+home+defense As I mentioned in that thread and is still valid today, my first choice is my M4 c...

Re: New Glock convert? We will see.

I’m a 1911 guy who owns 6 Glocks - Gen4 17, 19, 26, and 43x2, and a Gen3 19 - and carries nothing but Glocks. Yes, they are not pretty guns. The stock triggers? Well, on the ones I have, they’re not too bad.....could be worse......could also be better......but I’ve never found them to be an impedime...

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

I just figured I'd let everybody know what I decided to go for (in case anybody cares! :) ). I really appreciated everybody's ideas and feedback. I was really much interested in mainly .300 BLK in a short rifle, preferably suppressed, since obviously I won't be able to grab for hearing protection i...

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

Did the balloon go up and you need to bug out without going home first? The balloon goes up, I’m going home first. I HAVE to. I’m a husband, father, and grandfather, and we’re under one roof. I have responsibiliities, and I’m not going to abandon my family. Now, maybe after I get home and we get th...

Re: Clearing Overgrown Land

As I said, I don't have the trespass problem you have but I have the place fenced and posted. I personally would not put spike strips down as that sounds like a good way to get sued when someone gets hurt. Might be a good way to flush them out, they trespassed, and are admitting to it so then, you ...

Re: Do you carry "Murder Insurance"? Leftists attack carry policies

In the ever growing world of leftist attack... We are now being told that carry insurance is "Murder Insurance". I guess if you beleive in the second amendment you dont get to have an attorney... Just shaking my head. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-4998160/Murder-insurance-pr...

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

In the typical truck gun role, it is extremely unlikely that many rounds of rapid fire would be needed. A standard lever action 30-30 with a 16 inch barrel makes a very fine gun for that role with a much better price point. I agree, although make mine an 18” barrel. Almost anything that is relative...

Re: A little history lesson

The political parties switched. If you are a republican now, in 1860 you would be a democrat. Or a Whig. The republican party formed in the wake of the Whig party's self-immolation. I wonder what they'll form themselves in to now... Hard to say, but it’s worth noting that for what I believe is the ...

Range Report: I went to Elm Fork this afternoon with a “honey-do” list...... Honey being my new rifle. First Task: mount and zero the A2 carry handle and front sight. I used the official 25 meter M16A2/A4 sighting in target.....first time I’ve ever fooled with one of those. Here’s what it looks like...

Re: Red Dot sight question.

A $1,000 window is a pretty broad one. I have two micro-red dots. The first one is an Aimpoint T2 Micro, and it was somewhere around $750 or so (mount included). The other one is a Primary Arms that ran me about $250 or so = mount included. I guess if I had to go to war, I’d take the Aimpoint. It mi...
