Re: Volunteer First Responders ID

CERT members are also volunteer but do not have DHS ID cards. My City issues ID for CERT. "City of... ", not DHS. Same for RACES.... "City of... Emergency Management" with ID number and expiration date. To the OP.... You could request that students confirm eligibility by showing...

300-400 rounds through my gen 1, .40 cal, with no problems. I believe some of that was aluminum case but won't swear to it. Don't know what the problem is.

I wouldn't expect to base it on a badge alone, but on an ID. I did find that at least EMS has an ID so if they did have a volunteer department badge that would work.

Volunteer First Responders ID

I'm planning on doing some kind of free class for volunteer first responders. I assume* there's a Texas ID for fire, ems, etc but is there anything that denotes volunteer status? Concentrating on volunteer at the moment because of the new law.

*Yeah, I know what happens.

Re: Swiss Rifle Range

Ok, you made me tell this story. I started work at Brooks AFB a couple years before it became Brooks City Base. There was a small building that housed the arms room. Outside the door was a clear barrel. If you don't know, that's a barrel, usually tilted, full of sand with a heavy metal lid on top wi...

Re: Swiss Rifle Range

Never seen anything quite like this. Did I hear him right? Said a guy was drawing a bit of attention to himself because he was shooting a rifle less than 60 years old? Is there some kind of law there that says your gun must be a certain age? I just took it to be that he was the only on there that d...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

.... I do not find it confusing, as the phrase "do not apply" is crystal clear. But I do think it trips up to too many people as I have had this discussion many times. This included CHL and Security instructors in the past claiming DPS was telling them that it was still prohibited. I beli...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting

..... There is nothing confusing about §46.03(i); people simply quit reading too soon. Read together, it is absolutely clear that churches, etc. are not off-limits unless they receive notice pursuant to TPC §30.06. If LTCs are not aware of this fact, then their LTC Instructor let them down in a very...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 27 dead 30 injured in mass shooting

But did the DPS representative have to say assault-type rifle? I thought better of DPS.
