So I just won a Maxim 50 on Gunbroker, but I'll be honest...I know jack squat about muzzleloaders. I bid on it for two reasons...more hunting season options, and a coolness factor. I get the 30,000ft overview on loading powder, bullet, and the 209 primer. Much beyond that, I'm in the dark.

I imagine there are some powders that are better than others? Does the type of .50 bullet dictate the type of powder? Do you swab after every round?

I'm all ears from those in the know. If you have any good online resources or that hard-to-find tribal knowledge, I'd be most appreciative if you could share.
