Re: Felon Shoots Cop In Face With Shotgun. Annoyed Cop Fires Back.

The first shooting I responded to in my EMS days was a drug deal gone bad. Victim was shot in the back at close range with birdshot. He bled out and was pronounced at the ER. The shot perforated the coronary arteries. I am not advocating bird shot for self defense but we all know that Shot placemen...

Re: Felon Shoots Cop In Face With Shotgun. Annoyed Cop Fires Back.

Something is definitely off about this. Have a friend over 30 years ago was shot at about 75 feet with birdshot in a kidnapping/abduction attempt. She was hit on the side and had over 200 pellets in her face, arm and torso. To this day still has shot they could not remove from her due to being too ...

Re: London England: Attack at Houses of Parliment developing

The Brits are reacting in their usual fashion: The assailant was known to police as a radical Islamist, but was not under active investigation. He used weapons (a vehicle and a knife) which are legal to own and available to everyone, so beating the gun control drum isn't available as a political res...

The 5.5 inch limit on the length of the blade is totally unnecessary, and the prohibition on carrying a Bowie knife in Texas is just face palm worthy embarrassing.

Re: Felon Shoots Cop In Face With Shotgun. Annoyed Cop Fires Back.

I've seen members posting here that they would use birdshot in the opening couple of rounds in their magazines, backed up by buckshot, then slugs. I've always been suspicious of the effectiveness of birdshot beyond a few yards, and I can't imagine anything that birdshot will do that buckshot won't ...

Re: On Going Outside to Investigate Noises

If said intruder managed to get away with a couple of dog bites, they would very likely seek medical attention, dogs bites are a required reporting incident by law, let the BG explain how he got bit! And his BFF would back him up and say that it was his dog that bit him, while the perp and his frie...

Re: On Going Outside to Investigate Noises

I would strongly caution against sending your dog(s) outside into the unknown. My two GSDs used to be highly trained to handle stuff like that. They were not police dogs, but it could be argued that in some ways their training was as good or better in various aspects. They were trained to defend un...

Re: On Going Outside to Investigate Noises

I'll give the trooper the benefit of the doubt- I bet there are facts not in the written story that could be important. You're right in that news accounts are never complete and are rarely completely accurate. Articles based on initial reports are usually less complete and less accurate than the or...

On Going Outside to Investigate Noises

A Texas trooper reportedly heard noises he thought could indicate an intruder outside trying to get into his home late at night. Instead of calling local law enforcement, he donned his ballistic vest, grabbed his gun and went outside. The results reinforce why this tactic is strongly disfavored by t...

Re: IL: Armed security guard stops bank robbery

Notice that the BG was in his car waiting for the only customer to leave in his truck before he made his entrance to the bank. It's another reminder that it's important to look around the parking lot as well as the inside of the premises before entering a bank, convenience store, jewelry store, or o...

I've added those to all my pistols and I've also added Talon rubberized grips to all the polymer framed ones. I found them a great help for maintaining a good grip when cold, wet, sweaty, etc. Very easy to install too.

Re: If you could only have one gun

In Texas, fortunately we have the wild hog population that would likely be sufficient to sustain most those who survive the first few weeks of TEOTWAWKI and know how to hunt them.
