Re: Dangerous Traffic Stop - Minnesota Police Officer

The biggest issue here appears to be a miscommunication between the officer and the driver. Here is my take: The officer gave two commands - to produce the license and not to reach for the gun. He didn't know where either of those items was located in the vehicle. The driver understood and believed...

Re: Pass through shots/ liability

Pass through shots by an LTC or equivalent holder that hit an innocent party with an expanded hollowpoint are pretty rare and I can't even recall the last time I saw one that caused a serious injury.

The much greater concern is a missed shot that hits an unintended target.

I wear cargo shorts all summer and care so little about fashion that I didn't know they were out of fashion, if that is even the case. I've got lots of good company out here in the country that does the same too.

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

The breakfast was a huge success!

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the folks whose posts I've been reading for years, and the great conversation that consisted of real, honest discussion without worrying about offending or triggering a snowflake.

This was a definite "gotta do it again".

Re: Who Carries A Snub Nose Revolver

I sometimes pocket carry an S&W 442 in a pocket holster when wearing cargo shorts and making a low threat area run - e.g., quick trip to Home Depot. I always drop at least one speed strip into a pocket as well becuz ..... well, you just never know.

Re: Do I need to rethink my EDC?

You could up your capacity, get better trigger action, and sharply reduce reload times with either a Shield or XDS in 9mm. Felt recoil will likely be very comparable or even a bit less due to a bit more weight and more of a grip to spread the recoil impulse over more of the hand. The same guns in .4...

Re: Springfield 1903 Rifle Ejector Issue - Insight Needed

Following DEB's suggestion I went to milsurp.com and found a soldier's manual for the rifle that described how the bolt is supposed to cam the ejector into position as the bolt reaches the limit of its travel. Examination showed this wasn't happening, so my friend ordered a new extractor and we comp...

Re: Ankle injury

TAM, I'm very sorry to hear about your injury. A lower extremity injury that limits mobility is extremely debilitating and makes everything you normally do easily much more difficult. A couple years ago I badly tore up a tendon in my ankle that required surgery. The damage was so extensive the doc h...

In light of what he did, I'm hesitant to give him credit for smarts.

I suspect he was using the tree as a rest to help him hit the refrigerator instead of as cover.

Near Miss on Darwin Award

In what appears to be a "hold my beer and watch this" moment, a man packed an old refrigerator with tannerite, closed the door, and shot it from about 50 yards with an AR. Had he been standing about 18 inches to the left of where he was, he would have won the Darwin award hands down. The v...

Re: Springfield 1903 Rifle Ejector Issue - Insight Needed

If the problem isn't due to babying the bolt, I would suggest to go to "http://www.milsurps.com/". I used this resource to get old weapon Technical Manuals as well as talking to folks that are really in the know about these old warhorses. I own a 1903 Springfield and downloaded several Mi...
