Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

Might better ask who is going to be there? I can make it but i don't want to be there by myself! I can make it too, but don't want to drive an hour to Arlington for only one or two folks, one of whom has to come from Mineral Wells. I suggest moving this month's meeting location to Weatherford. R&am...

.45 Auto Failure to Stop with Head Shot

A man in Brazil appeared relatively unfazed after he sustained a .45 auto shot to his forehead during a robbery.

A photo taken shortly afterwards suggests that he may be a bit more hard headed than most.

Details and the referenced photo can be viewed here.

Re: LEOSA and TCOLE

I can see that, Excalibur. I was thinking of people using the TCOLE card as their ID, not as their proof of qualification. TCOLE does call it an ID card and I was just pointing out that it is not sufficient for an ID card and that you needed the agency ID card. Bryanmc, I was not saying TCOLE instr...

Re: Snatch and Grab at Church Tonight

You and your team did fabulously well! You did everything you reasonably could to prevent the theft and recover the property. Things would very likely have gotten a lot messier if someone had blocked in or directly confronted a determined pair of thieves, and there might well have been negative cons...

Re: LEOSA and TCOLE

Interesting that this has been revived. I found it in a search with keywords LEOSA and TCOLE. I had a firearms instructor (state le and chl) tell me that the only valid leosa qualification card in Texas was the one issued by TCOLE. LEOSA says that you have to qualify to state standards by someone q...

Re: LEOSA and TCOLE

Texas Govt. Code refers to “License to Carry a Handgun”. You do not need a TX CHL to carry under LEOSA. Therefore, if I don’t have a TX CHL I am not carrying a handgun under authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Govt Code. As I understand it, even if you have an LTC and also qualify annually unde...

Re: My Water Line Burst

In the FAQ's from the website you provided, it states that PEX is not approved for outdoor applications. I've read from other places that underground usage is fine. The reasoning is that UV exposure causes rapid deterioration, but if it's underground that's not an issue. That makes sense!

Re: My Water Line Burst

good looking Temporary patch, I had a similar situation years ago when I lived in Pasadena. I had lots of those patches under my Pasadena house I discovered when I got around to replacing my line there (that house was built in the late 1930s/early 40s I think) Later I replaced the line with polybut...

Re: My Water Line Burst

Did someone encase cast pipe in concrete. mortar, etc... maybe a previous "epoxy repair"? How far is it from the meter to the house? I'm afraid there are other sections of that pipe in similar condition. You may need to replace a lot of pipe. edit;It is iron pipe. Now whether is galvanize...

Re: H.R.38: National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

The million dollar question is..... When will we see some progress in the Senate? Unfortunately, it appears unlikely that this bill will have enough votes to get past the expected filibuster. And there's been comments attributed to some R's (Cornyn) about addressing the bills separately in the Sena...

Re: Sling Shot recommendation

Squirrels do untold millions of dollars in damage every year. They damage people's homes, commercial buildings, grain stores, and cause communications outages by chewing through cables. Squirrels probably cause more power outages than lightning. The only bright spot in that is a squirrel that cause...
