Re: Flashback 30 Years: Guns Were in Schools ... and Nothing Happened

Back in the summer of 1983, I took a required speech class at A&M. We had to make one presentation a week. A fella did one about how to disassemble and clean a shotgun, for which he used his own shotgun as a demo. Right there in a Blocker Building classroom.

Re: Not watching the Superbowl

It’s interesting enough as a game. Plus my wife is from NE and went to games at Foxboro as a kid. And I am enough of a Cowboys fan to hate the Eagles.

Question about on-line notice for 30.06 (3) (A)

Here's the issue. I know of a number of churches, like this one http://www.emmanuel-houston.org/weapons-policy , that post 30.06 verbiage on-line. They may or may not post the requisite signage on site. In this case of this parish, I have not checked. I have yet to see an Episcopal parish that actua...

This scripture comes to mind: “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.”

Interesting story about life in a real police/surveillance society

This is a story about life in China's northwestern frontier province of Xinjiang. There is a lot to reflect on here, including Chinese authoritarianism, and/or responding to Islamic terrorism. But the main point of the story is how Xinjiang is probably the biggest application of surveillance technol...

Re: Which state will be the most upset?

DC is full of liberals, yet people from all over the country constantly travel to and from DC for work. Therefore they will have more people coming and going and carrying for self-defense as they move about the city doing their business. The residents of the district will likely be the most upset i...

Re: Obi-Wan carries a 1911

Art by Loren Michki - as he says: Did you know that Obiwan Kenobi carried a 1911? “An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age” Ok, not knowing anything about the history of cinema, I had to look this up. The Star Wars Jedi theme was based on the history of the sword wielding samurai. The classic J...

Re: Retired military commanders urge Congress to address 'gun violence crisis'

The system is designed for conformity, not character. Yes, and they seem like separate issues to me. That military policy is geared toward conformity may be fine for their purpose and function. But it has little to do with my needs as a private civilian or a state employee. That's why I didn't give...

Re: White Males who fear Poverty are gun nuts

Classic case of a spurious association. I am a white male, and I do fear poverty. There are some who would classify me as a gun nut. However, my affection for guns, and the number that I own/carry, has nothing to do with my fear of poverty. Quite the opposite. The the wealthier I am (or feel), the m...

Re: Getting my CHL back after DWI Suspension

If he does and decides to do something stupid with a gun he will do it with or without a CHL, so why keep him from getting it. Because if anybody (not necessarily the OP) does something stupid with a CHL, it figuratively and literally (in the DPS convictions data) reflects badly on the rest of us. ...

Utah Carjacking Killer Caught

I had seen this story posted on a few gun control sites, and had assumed they posted it because it happened near the University of Utah. Well, they caught the guy, who is a person of interest in another murder in Colorado http://abcnews.go.com/US/suspect-captured-killing-university-utah-student-poli...

Re: Poll - How many rounds?

70% of the time (i.e., Monday through Friday) I carry fifteen rounds of .357 magnum distributed in three different revolvers.

The other 30% of the time it is only one or two revolvers.

So I answered in the 11 to 14 category.
