Re: Rifle for hog hunting
I generally use an AR in 5.56 with 75gr or an AR in 308. A 6.8spc would definitely get the job done. I would suggest going with some kind of repeater, preferable semi-auto, but a lever action would be alright if you're efficient with it. The reason being if you fire on a large pack of hogs they're g...

Re: SCAR rifles given the boot by SOCOM
Yep. Putting it all towards the .308/7.62x51 SCAR makes a lot more sense, nothing wrong with the M4 for it's intended purpose.

Re: M4 Sight-in Distance?
By "odd things" I'd wager they mean the bullets trajectory.
This is with a 1/7 twist 14.5" barrel shooting M193, but you get the idea.

Re: M4 Sight-in Distance?
I prefer a 50/200 zero for its flatter trajectory. That's is, zeroed at 50 yards which depending on the particular loading will fall around zero at 200 yards give or take. It's the flattest trajectory you'll get between 0-200 yards with the greatest deviation being ~2.25"+/-. It's about 1.2&quo...

Re: AR10 vs AR15
I have my share of both. Personally I'd opt for the AR15 first if it's for an end of the world zombie scenario. It's MUCH lighter, still accurate out to good distances, and parts are readily available. With the AR10/308's that's not the case. You generally can't build an AR10/308 out of parts from c...

Re: The Bushmaster ACR: Comming 3/1/2010
Major let down. Bushmaster really screwed the whole thing up about as much as possible, just like I knew they could. The specs are awful, 1/9 twist, it's too heavy, and the price is insanely high. Double what Magpul wanted. I wish I was surprised but Bushmaster did a similar thing with their go at a...

Re: AR-15 Help: Trigger Guard
What LPK are you using? If it's DPMS, aside from being low end, their roll pins are typically out of spec (i.e. slightly too large) from my experience. vice grips on all AR roll pins here. found it's the quickest and easiest way for me. no hammer and no bench required. Can do it sitting in a comfy l...

Re: AR build
Took her apart last night and found the culprit. My Buffer has something in it that is rattling. Doesn't appear to be a major deal. Slid everything back together and ready to fire. Thanks for the support on this build. Will definatly not be my last. Yeah, it's probably just the weights in the buffe...

Re: Tactical Solutions AR-22 dedicated upper
I used to get a nice puff in the face when shooting with the stock collapsed. Do you get a lot of blow back through the back of the charge handle with the can on? This is what I do to "gas busterize" the charge handle. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c347/BodhisattvaNosferatu/AK-AR/GasBu...

Re: Left Handed AR-15
Positive BCM doesn't make any lefties. They carry Stags, but not the lefties. Finding a Stag Lefty upper that you won't have to wait 10 or more weeks for is going to be very challenging. NORGON does make a drop in ambi mag release, they're around $80-90. You could always get him a FN SCAR, they're a...

Re: Left Handed AR-15
Stag is going to be your best bet for a lefty AR. Depending on what you're looking for quality wise. Stags are good for the money, but tracking down a lefty in-stock may be a problem. What's your price range? I wouldn't even bother with a lefty AR, however. Any regular AR with a brass deflector (i.e...

Re: Bought my first Can Yesterday
Nice. :thumbs2: You didn't go with a Trust? I am guessing that it is a Silencer. That's kinda' what I thought too. :eek6 Now comes the second question, "why". For that kind of money one could get any one, or more, of several really nice guns that go BANG. Yes, can is lingo for a suppressor...
