Re: I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
Just wanted to update everyone. We never ended up doing anything about the neighbor. And a week ago he moved out! We were pretty sure he was gone because his pittbull was gone. But then I saw my other neighbor who owns the house that he was renting, and he confirmed that he had moved out without not...

Re: I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
Would these people be equally suspicious if they were not “African American guys” or “Mexican guys”? Just asking, think about it. Just trying to describe what I saw. Police commonly describe people by their ethnicity. There's nothing racist about that. But to answer your question, the boney (white)...

Re: San Antonio Ordinance
Since the San Antonio "ordinance" is inconsistent with state law in at least two ways (government owned facilities are specifically prohibited from banning CHLs, and you can't ban CHLs based on 30.05) it isn't a valid or enforcible ordinance in Texas. So no, regardless of what San Antonio...

Re: I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
Right now I would tend to think the house is not a meth lab. I haven't smelled any of the smells in the article Excaliber posted. Never seen glass beakers laying around or chemicals. I did want to comment about the sleep schedule thing, though. In the 6 months we have lived here, I have no idea what...

Re: I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
I am also considering KBCraig's comments. My sister has been living in a small rural town for over ten years. She has told me about similar type activities with a couple of her neighbors. I suspect the police know, but it's small potatoes compared to the other drug and gang activity going on. A cou...

Re: I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
I have a different opinion (big surprise, eh?) Your anxiety about this neighbor seems to revolve around whether or not he's doing something illegal, and whether or not his visitors are doing something illegal. You don't seem to have any other problems with him: you didn't mention that he's loud or ...

Re: I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
I think I'll e-mail the lead investigator at the police department and give him the short version of the story and see if he wants to meet and talk about it. This is a small town and there are only seven cops (but hey, they have their own website!). Hopefully they are not too busy to at least look i...

Re: San Antonio Ordinance
Even though it conflicts with the penal code, it is a current law and I would assume you could be justifiably arrested for an offense. Because it is invalid doesn't mean you're immune from it. An unenforceable 30.06 is different because it doesn't comply with the law, but this is the law. You'd have...

I think my next door neighbor is a drug dealer
I haven't posted here in a while but still carrying 24/7 when I legally can. I need to consult the advice of some like-minded people. I suspect my next door neighbor is a drug dealer. He is an African-American guy that lives in a 700 square foot shack that he rents from another neighbor. He also kee...

Walther P22 anyone?
I've been planning on getting a Walther P22 for a while now, mainly for use as a plinker and ranch gun (snakes, rodents, etc.). At the suggestion of my wife(!), I picked one up at the Austin gun show this last weekend. I'm glad I did! The gun is so much fun to shoot. And the fact that it's .22 so it...

Re: No weapons at work!
The original post indicates that the business is not properly posted, so 30.06 is irrelevant aside from any misguided prosecution attempts. "Property" is irrelevant, too, isn't it? The OP wouldn't go to jail, but would likely lose his job if he gets found out. Yes, the business isn't prop...

Re: No weapons at work!
I've got a question for you guys. I'm sure there's a quick answer, but it isn't so clear to me. 30.06 deals with carrying on someone's property. I've always taken that to mean physical land and buildings. However, I drive a company vehicle for my job, and I take it home with me everyday. The first d...

The basketball court we play at is well gated away from the playground. Kids at the park is being watched by parents at all times. The backpack is about 10-15 feet away from where we play. I'm always alert and looking over at my bag every minute when the ball goes out of bounds. Plus, my backpack i...
