Re: People Newly Interested in Getting Licensed

I expected to see a lot of interest after the fee went down. I have not seen that in my classes. I think the present administration depressed the "need". If Hillary would have been elected I think we'd still be seeing higher interest. Now with the Sutherland Springs tragedy there has been ...

What also bothers me is they are making a list of LTCs.

Re: This Gun Instructor Says Many Who Carry A Gun Aren't Trained To Respond To A Shooter

I believe I saw an interview (maybe on Louder?) where Mr. Willeford lamented that he didn't have a loaded magazine. He didn't dwell on it long but you could tell he was almost dumbfounded that he didn't have a loaded magazine. I've watched so much that I'm not sure where I saw it and if it was actua...

Re: This Gun Instructor Says Many Who Carry A Gun Aren't Trained To Respond To A Shooter

Regarding the guitar/musician statement in the light of the "gun instructor's" comments. Having a fire extinguisher does not make me a fireman. It does give me a chance to stop, or at least slow down, a blaze until help arrives. If I'm lucky I can put out the fire. I haven't trained enough...

Re: The wait is over now where to stay...

Try the Best Western and tell them your coming for a DPS class. They gave me a discounted rate, which I don't remember what it was. The DPS stays there and it is clean and quiet. Breakfast is so-so.

Re: Poll - How many rounds?

I generally carry 13+1 in my XDSC9 and one or two reloads. Usually one if I am using my SpecGear Truss and two if I am carrying OWB because I have a dual mag holster.

If I happen to be carrying my Defender it's 7+1 and a 7 round reload, maybe two.

Re: Minimum Caliber for Instructor Proficiency

Instructors are held to a higher standard. Instructors must shoot both tests and score 90% or better whereas the students do not. I see the .38 minimum caliber as just a higher standard for the instructors. Push off is when the hammer, in the cocked position, can be pushed forward with out the trigg...

Re: WTB Budget AR 15

Ceratac has a carbine kit (less lower) for $299 ($323 assembled) plus free shipping. Comes with a keymod handguard and collapsible stock.

Depending on what lower you can find and how much assembly you're comfortable with you could have a budget AR near your budget with a couple of little upgrades.

Re: Carry style

You need too allow multiple responses. I carry in a SpecGear bellyband hybrid, OWB, and IWB about the same amount.

Re: Women and weapon retention

My wife has to carry very discretely and is using Undertech's tank and Lethal Lace. I suspect a form of bellyband will be next.

She also has a couple of purses. a plain black one from Coronado Leather and a more western tooled one from Gun Totin' Mama she got at Cabela's.
