Re: Suggestions for insurance to cover my firearms ??

IIRC, there is a basic level of coverage with NRA membership, but it isn't really very much. I have NRA Armscare and luckily have not had to use it. My OLD homeowners used to consider firearms just another part of your personal property and insured them lumped in with all your other stuff. A couple ...

Re: Mossberg. Have they improved?

Have had a Mossberg 500 20 gauge since 1973 and it has always worked just fine. Bought a 12 gauge Model 500 20 inch barrel HD shotgun in 1978 and except for a minor malfunction in 1984 with the extractor which was easily fixed, no issues. Bought another 12 gauge 500 for hunting in 2006 and works gre...

Re: Retirement grows closer

Thinking about this next summer. Already 67 and still working. Did 30 years active duty AF and have been working for the Army for last 15+. Getting tired of working weekends, holidays, long hours, and being on call 24/7 (and even getting calls while on leave). Have a part time LTC and firearms train...

Use the other word for which HECK is a euphemism and it should come up.

Jake

Go to the CMP website and it will tell you all. Biggest is to be a member of a "Recognized" Club. NRA does not count, but Texas State Rifle Association does. There are also others such as the Garand Collectors Association.

and remember that MANY times laws and rules are written by folks that really do not know everything about what they are regulating. Many of the folks in government do not know that a .38 Special is really only .357 inch or that a 9mm is really only .354 or .355 inch. :tiphat:

Re: The perfect "truck gun"

My idea of a "Truck Gun" is a reliable rifle that will see a lot of getting banged around (so should not worry about dings and scratches), a caliber that will take care of 2 legged as well as four legged critters, reasonably accurate out to 100 meters, and a reasonable magazine capacity. F...

Re: Carry style

Prefer OWB covered by a jacket or sport coat when I can. If I need to definitely conceal then pocket carry a 9mm Shield.

Re: Instructor recertification class

Mike S. The answer came from one of the ladies from RSD that was sitting in the back row area. She spent some amount of time apparently researching and gave her answer to the gentleman who asked the question. Question was asked by the guy sitting next to me. Personally, never had a student want to u...

Re: Instructor recertification class

Just finished the Wednesday morning class. Only had 79 folks in the session, a far cry from the overflow Monday class. Most seemed to be somewhat local (San Antonio to Waco), but one from El Paso and a couple from Amarillo. May have been many other areas, but I did not talk with them. Earlier post w...

Re: How to get rid of old ammo

I have plenty of milsurp ammo that has suffered heat and cold for more than 20 years. I all still fires. May have lost a few FPS, but still is reasonably accurate and safe to fire. heat and cold are NOT your enemy. WATER is your enemy.

Re: How long have you been carrying?

Won't confirm or deny carrying in Texas (except WHILE TRAVELING and that would go back to about 1973) any before January 1996 when my first TEXAS plastic arrived. Previously held an Alabama permit from 1988-1989 and believe it or not, a California permit from 1978-1982. Back then, Sacramento County ...
