Re: 38 special wadcutters?

Quick reloads are likely not going to happen, but they do punch nice holes. Underwood has a 150 gr polymer coated wadcutter that shoots well in my .38 snubbies.

Re: Another shooting at DFW Gun Range

I took my first CHL class there many years ago and near the end of the day, one of the counter guys failed to properly clear a rental pistol and set off a live round behind the sales counter. If you've never had a .45 round go off a few feet from you in a closed space with no hearing protection, it'...

Re: SB 1515 is just wrong

I realize this is not going to be a popular opinion, but it's issues like this that caused me to give up on religion in general, so here goes. Out of curiosity, for those wishing to see the ten commandments posted in schools, government buildings, etc. - are these just platitudes to you or are you t...

Re: IF You Could Only Have One Gun

Colt Combat Commander Series 70 for me. Easy to carry and I shoot it better than anything else in the safe.

WTB: Smith model 49 j-frame

Looking for a Smith model 49 snubbie. Prefer nickel but will take blue. Looking for a nice one, but doesn't have to be a museum piece. North Dallas area or willing to ship to my FFL.

Re: IWB Holster Recommendations...

In the middle ages, I would have been considered a rich man given my girth, so IWB is not terribly comfortable for me (6', 280#)m but I did find a few holster makers that specialize in IWB holsters for bigger guys: https://jxtactical.com/fat-guy-holster/ https://www.northcoasttactical.com/product/t-...

Re: Democrats now want our Silencers

Bill Would Ban Suppressors for All but Police, Military Democrats on Capitol Hill have introduced bicameral legislation that takes aim at the more than 2 million already highly regulated firearm suppressors in circulation. The proposal, dubbed the "Help Empower Americans to Respond," or H...

Re: Thinner gun belt

I tried one of the reinforced Klik Belts (https://www.klikbelts.com) and it seems sufficiently stout. Much lighter and easier-wearing than my double-thickness bullhide gun belts too, especially with shorts and summer weight clothing.

Re: Fender bender

I had a similar interaction with a SAPD officer recently. I was in a two-car accident and called 911. I gave the officer my ID and CHL and told him I was armed. His response was a shrug and he said "As long as I don't see it (my pistol), we're good". They seem to be training them well in ...

Re: Pass through shots/ liability

My first CHL instructor explained it to me this way - "Every round in your magazine has a lawyer attached to it. If you send a round out into the real world, the lawyer goes with it and he or she may not have your best interests at heart if your actions were less than 100% justified and legal.&...

Re: Why a 1911?

Aside from the great trigger, flat profile, that it fits my hand perfectly, and that I can hit what I aim at with a 1911 better than I can with most anything else, this pretty much sums it up for me: http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk40/SecurityGeek/e0bfc75e-0e3c-4170-86e5-3f5a30248ae9_zpsrz5mdxz...

Re: Real Man Rules

In his American Handgunner (Sept-Oct, 2005 issue) piece, Roy Huntington mused on the concept of the "retro-guy". Much of his "Retro-Guy Code" could (and should) be considered Man Law. Here is the article: In light of all the "retro-this" and "retro-that" it su...
