Re: Suppressor provision in Big Beautiful Bill

The final version does not remove suppressors (or anything else) from the NFA. The Senat bill included that, but it was stripped out by the parliamentarian. The tax stamp fee is gone (it's now zero dollars) but the NFA registration requirements remain.

Re: Daylight Saving Time

As noted in the original post, it doesn't take effect unless the US Congress also passes similar legislation. We won't be different from the nation.

Too Good to be True

SCAM ALERT, I think

I got a Facebook ad saying Palmetto State Armory was having a clearance sale. Checked out the link and was brought to a page at https://palmesttostates*dot*shop/ with incredibly low prices. Very much too good to be true (Example: box of 525 rounds Winchester .22LR for $5.19 ...

At the end of the video it shows a box with a label stating "Made in Serbia".

Man, an OSHA inspector would just faint dead away.

Re: You get a 5am alarm alert this morning

My android phone has a Do Not Disturb setting, which I have set to automatically turn on at 11PM and terminate at 7AM. Nothing gets thru except alarms that I have set and calls/texts from people in my contact list on the phone. I saw the alert on my screen when I woke up but it didn't make any noise ...

Re: Power grid

OTOH, my brother in east Texas who is connected to the national grid never lost power in the past few years when we had hard, long freezes. I was without power for days at a time! Also, there are a LOT of AI companies putting large server farms in the state, and they'll need a LOT of power.

Re: Texas Vehicle Inspection

I see this as a mixed bag... Less government is good, but I think overall road safety will suffer a bit.

It's apparently not a problem in 38 other states.

The main problem I see with this is folks who have non-functioning tail lights or brake lights. They typically don't know their lights ...

Re: Democrat Eric Swalwell Calls for Buyback of All AR-15s

I will sell them mine for 1 million dollars. If they are willing to pay that price, I will sell them a couple of mine.

Yeah, any marketing text book will tell you that a fair price is whatever is agreed upon by a willing buyer and a willing seller.

I have a feeling that's not the sort of ...

Re: Waiting Your Turn In Robbery Situations

Talker #1 says *if* the guy who's not near the counter has a 2-second draw he should pull his firearm and shoot the guy in red because the other guy will run and not return fire. That'a a BIG bet. Robber #2 has a gun in his hand. What's to stop him from simply pointing at the customer who's shooting ...

Re: War with Russia

I've been avoiding commenting on this topice so far, but…

I don't believe Putin's strategy in Ukraine was to "…draw the U.S. and allies into spending tons of money and sending military resources to Ukraine." I think he assumed that the U.S. and NATO would not get so directly involved and that ...

Re: Firefighter/EMT Wrist Watch suggestions

A couple of years ago, I gave up on electric watches and got myself a Seiko with a self-winding movement… this one .

I finally decided to go back to using an old-school wind-up/self-winding watch. Been happy with it ever since. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this watch to somebody who was ...

Well, I've "been told" by a police officer that if a light is yellow when you enter the intersection, you're okay. :anamatedbanana

Sounds to me like it is subjective. I suppose a person would need to test the issue in court to find out. Like someone posted above, they can write us up for ...

True, but it's my understanding that the primary reason they're using 1:7 is to stabilize tracer bullets which are longer than most other bullets.

Re: windows operating system 11

My spousal unit got a new computer earlier this year which came with Windows 11. I'm still using Win10 on a computer that's too old to upgrade. She's getting along fine with Win11. She's more of a power user than I am. As a retired accountant she does the taxes and maintains numerous Excel ...
