I have hunted since I was teenager, but it was always doves or waterfowl. I deer hunted exactly twice on day leases. In 1994 I was invited to join some folks on a small lease in 1994 and after visiting it and already knowing two of the people I joined and have hunted every year. It was almost deer season when I joined and I had given my Model 70 .243 to my son-in-law so I had to borrow a rifle. I've enjoyed it immensely and have never missed an opening day until this year when the heat and a conflict prevented me from being there.bblhd672 wrote:This thread makes me want to get back into hunting. Been over 20 years since I've hunted.

Re: 2016 Hunting Season
I wish you luck. Unfortunately our lease doesn't allow guests and even if it did it's a lot further than a two hour drive from DFW. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!Beiruty wrote:I am off the thanksgiving week and i.plan on hunting that week. I am still in look out for good hunting property or hunting ranch.

Re: 2016 Hunting Season
I had a duck and goose lease for years back in the 60's and early 70's. I'm sure the 2400 acres of rice fields we had are streets, lawns and houses now.PatrickMas20 wrote:That's no fun. I used to dove hunt out in Katy where they were building all those new developments of 1463. Now all the fields turned into houses... been a while since I've been bird hunting. My 12g has seen no love the past two years.Dan20703 wrote:Lost our hunting spot last year to a developer. I guess the owner of the property got an offer he couldn't refuse.
Nowhere to hunt this year. First time in about 15 years.
